Davos, Switzerland – June 8, 2022 – These days, the world is seeing a major shift in economic and development discourse. As it is being rocked by turbulence and uncertainty, traditional strategies are becoming obsolete. All markets and industries are on the cusp of change, investors are probing new opportunities and searching for solutions to secure their businesses. All these and many other pressing issues were addressed at the Davos International Conference 2022 by ILP Group held on 24 May.
The conference featured a distinguished lineup of experts from around the globe, who shared their exclusive insights with an international audience of investors and professional advisors and provided their reflections on the conference’s thematic focus.
Speakers and panelists discussed the recently introduced and potential changes to the Golden visa policies across the EU and the effect of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on the global investment landscape. “We have a lot of clients from Russia and Ukraine who want to move to Portugal,” said Amber Star CEO Oleg Railean (Portugal). “We do have ways to help them. They have certain concerns and ask questions but they are still interested in investing in the European Union. Today, it is definitely possible to make an investment but it is more complicated than the year before.”
The U.S. immigrant investor program has always been among the most coveted. “EB-5 is a way that people can self-sponsor themselves for a Green Card. They do not need an employer or family sponsor. This is very special in the Immigration Law”, said Kate Kalmykov, a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig (USA). She also introduced the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act enacted in March 2022 aiming to reauthorize the EB–5 Regional Center Program in order to prevent fraud and to promote and reform foreign capital investment and job creation in American communities.
The fast-changing business environment has triggered demand for alternative investment options. “The most stable investments have always been real estate, gold, and shares. But there are many other opportunities and possibilities depending on the situation. Electronic currencies, cryptocurrencies are just a part of it,” said Maria Spartalis, a partner at Terreus Capital Zurich (Switzerland).
Delta Lavori Spa CEO Gaetano La Rocca (Italy) also pointed out that there are many attractive investment opportunities for entrepreneurs. “Investments in manufacturing are very safe. Italy also welcomes investments in the IT industry, especially Big Data and Data Mining”, he added.
Germany has been in the spotlight for investors for decades. In response to new circumstances and needs, the country now offers a broad range of alternative investment options, including fashion, crypto, and more. Anna Stukkert, a well-known investor from Germany emphasized that “despite global turbulence, the German market remains stable and very attractive to foreign investors, and the regulatory framework in force today ensures secure and lucrative investment opportunities”.
The real estate market is rapidly changing due to emerging risks and shifting priorities. Property investments are very diverse with choices that range from residential developments to retail and office spaces and hotels. Kseniya Korzun, Managing Partner at ILP Group (UK) shared her professional view on the contemporary market trends. “One of the most sensitive to global changes is the hospitality real estate market. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the market saw a large number of deals involving distressed assets. Today, as the market is steadily recovering, prices are back on the rise and finding a good property is becoming increasingly challenging”, Kseniya said.
ILP Group, UK, is the organizer of international exhibitions and conferences dedicated to residency and citizenship by investment, high-end residential and hospitality real estate, and alternative investments.
Since 2016, ILP events have been held in Cannes, Monaco, Shanghai, Mumbai, Bangkok, Moscow, Kyiv, Almaty, Baku, and Limassol.
