BANGKOK, TH / ACCESS Newswire / June 18, 2026 / As digital platforms rapidly redefine global trade, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, has announced a major initiative to strengthen Thailand's cross-border e-commerce capabilities. The newly launched Global Thai Product Export Management System Project is designed to help local entrepreneurs, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), seamlessly scale their operations into international markets.

The global e-commerce landscape has become a primary driver of international trade. Driven by the worldwide expansion of online marketplaces, advanced digital payment systems, and streamlined logistics networks, cross-border e-commerce now offers smaller businesses unprecedented speed and flexibility to enter markets that were previously difficult to reach.

In response to this shifting environment, the DITP's new project focuses on creating an integrated management system. The platform will support Thai businesses in preparing, managing, and distributing products overseas by optimizing critical trade operations, including product management, order coordination, and logistics tracking.

"Cross-border e-commerce has become a vital mechanism for business expansion, especially as we see international competitors, such as Chinese businesses, increasingly utilizing these channels to enter ASEAN markets," said Ms. Sunanta, a representative of the initiative. "Thai products must leverage these exact same cross-border channels to access global markets more easily and quickly."

Ms. Sunanta also emphasized that digital channels allow entrepreneurs to test market demand, gauge product popularity, and analyze consumer trends before committing to large-scale capital investments. However, she urged business owners to remain diligent regarding international legalities. "While cross-border e-commerce provides easier market access, Thai entrepreneurs must prioritize legal and regulatory compliance, particularly trademark registration. Taking these steps seriously is essential to reducing long-term risks and ensuring sustainable growth abroad."

This initiative underscores the DITP's commitment to helping Thai businesses pivot from traditional export models toward the modern digital economy. By providing structured digital trade management systems, the project aims to improve operational efficiency, lower entry risks, and boost long-term competitiveness.

Ultimately, the Global Thai Product Export Management System Project is expected to serve as a foundational pillar for Thailand's future trade ecosystem, reinforcing the nation's position as a highly competitive player in the global e-commerce arena.
