(Matthew Du, NewsUSA Reporter) - Deep Dish Pizza is a hot Chicago commodity. Historically, Chicago-style deep dish pizza was almost always reported to be invented at Pizzeria Uno in Chicago, 1943.  Though Pizzeria Uno has historically been credited with developing the recipe for deep-dish pizza, the name of the actual inventor has never been confirmed. For the longest time, Uno’s founder, Ike Sewell, had been credited with the first deep-dish pizza. Recent uncovers by Lauren Victory has revealed that the actual cook behind the cheese treasure trove is none other than Ric Riccardo, chef of Pizzeria Uno.

It just so happens that Ike Sewell had been the one to turn around the restaurant’s financial troubles.
