AI Explain combines spoken guidance and moving visual notes to provide a first step into demanding reading

CastReader offers AI Explain for readers who want a starting point when a long article, paper or report feels difficult to begin. The available feature combines spoken explanation with visual notes, allowing readers to approach key ideas before choosing which parts of the original deserve closer attention.

The problem is not always a lack of time. A document may have been opened several times without the reader getting past the first page. Dense language, unfamiliar ideas or difficulty settling into a long text can leave the reading task feeling larger than the immediate question it needs to answer.

A First Step That Can Be Heard and Followed

AI Explain presents an explanation through narration and notebook- or chalkboard-style visuals. An animated pen marks the point being discussed, providing a visible reference alongside the audio. The reader can follow one idea at a time rather than starting with another uninterrupted page of text.

For a student facing an unread paper before class, the first goal might be understanding the central question. After hearing an introduction, the next task can become more specific: examine the example mentioned in the explanation or return to the section relevant to the class discussion. Starting does not have to mean finishing everything in one sitting.

The moving emphasis gives this first pass a different character from a static summary. When an explanation reaches a new point, the visual guidance moves with it. A reader who prefers to listen while looking at something specific can follow that presentation rather than divide attention between an unrelated audio track and an entire page. It is a format choice, with usefulness depending on the person and the material.

Some readers with ADHD may prefer to try this combination of spoken and visual information when approaching long material. It is an optional reading aid, not an ADHD treatment or a promise of improved attention. Different readers may find different formats useful.

Choose How Far to Go With the Original

When time is short, an overview can provide an introduction before a later reading session. When the complete wording matters, CastReader also offers full-text listening for supported material. The two choices let the reader decide whether the task calls for orientation, closer study or hearing the entire argument.

The amount of explanation is another choice. Supported Read & Explain workflows offer Overview, Standard and Deep settings. Readers can select a shorter introduction or request more detail according to the question they need to answer. Availability and results depend on the source and the workflow being used.

For example, consider a hypothetical quarterly work report that discusses sales in two regions and proposes a change to next quarter’s budget. A reader preparing for a meeting might choose Overview to identify the report’s main question and recommendation. Standard could provide a fuller account of the reasons behind that recommendation. Deep could be a choice when the reader wants more discussion before examining the original analysis. These are suggested uses of the depth settings, not fixed instructions for every report.

The same reader could then open the table behind a cited sales figure, check how each region is defined and read the paragraph describing the proposed budget change. Those tasks require the original wording and numbers. If the meeting concerns only the budget proposal, the reader can focus on that section; if it concerns the report as a whole, full-text listening can follow the initial explanation.

AI explanations can omit details or misunderstand the source, so important figures and quotations should be checked in the original. The aim is to provide a more approachable starting point, with the full document still available for the reading that follows.
