As spring travel returns to Central Florida and mosquito season picks up, ABC Home & Commercial Services is helping Orlando homeowners tell bed bug bites from mosquito bites. The company released identification guidance covering bite patterns, warning signs, and treatment options.

-- Orlando homeowners waking up with itchy welts this spring have a new resource to help them figure out what bit them. ABC Home & Commercial Services, a family-owned pest control provider serving Central Florida since 2006, has published fresh guidance on how to tell bed bug bites from mosquito bites. The release comes as Florida heads into peak spring travel season and mosquito activity ramps up across the region.

The timing is deliberate. Spring break traffic through Orlando hotels, vacation rentals, and Central Florida theme park resorts creates prime conditions for bed bugs to hitchhike home in luggage. At the same time, Florida's warm, wet spring brings a surge of mosquito activity to backyards across the metro. Homeowners often find themselves scratching at bites with no clear idea of the culprit.

According to the guidance, bed bug bites typically appear in distinctive rows of three, a pattern known in the pest control industry as "breakfast, lunch, and dinner." Mosquito bites appear as isolated, raised welts on any exposed skin. Flea bites tend to cluster around the ankles and lower legs. Correctly identifying the source of a bite changes the response entirely, from over-the-counter itch relief to a full inspection of bedding and luggage.

"Spring is when we get the most calls from Orlando families who aren't sure what's biting them," said Dylan Jenkins, General Manager at ABC's Orlando branch. "We tell everyone the same thing. Check the bite pattern first. A row of three red bumps across an arm or leg is a bed bug signature. A single itchy welt after an evening on the patio is almost always a mosquito. Knowing the difference saves people a lot of worry and points them toward the right fix."

The guidance also addresses common misconceptions. Bed bugs are not a sign of an unclean home. They spread through travel and secondhand furniture, and a single pregnant female can seed an infestation within weeks. Mosquitoes, by contrast, can breed indoors in as little as a teaspoon of standing water. A forgotten pet water bowl or the drip tray under a potted plant is enough to get a new generation started.

ABC's Orlando team sees a sharp rise in both service categories each spring. The company's Orlando bed bug exterminator team uses heat treatments and targeted applications for infestations, while its Orlando mosquito control program treats breeding sites on the property and applies barrier sprays to yards. Both services are backed by QualityPro certification and 77 years of family ownership.

Raleigh Jenkins, President and CEO, previously served as President of the National Pest Management Association and has built ABC into a multi-state operation with over 300 background-checked specialists. The Orlando branch has served Central Florida since August 2006. Orlando residents who suspect bed bugs or want a mosquito assessment can request an estimate through the ABC Orlando website.

The new guidance is part of ABC's broader spring outreach effort and was produced with support from national digital marketing agency ASTOUNDZ.
