Stretch of cool mornings, comfortably warm afternoons continues into first weekend of October

I'm meteorologist Chris Michaels. Welcome to the first weekend of October, and it's a nice one out there, especially this afternoon, where it's mostly sunny, warmer than yesterday, but humidity levels are at least tolerable. Highs for most of us, 74 to 79. The sand hills are gonna be warmer than that. Tomorrow we'll take temperatures up by about 2 degrees, pretty much everywhere, but still a nice day, just more cloud cover. Heading into the middle of the Upcoming week we'll track this area of low pressure that results in a dip in the jet stream. That means a decent chance for some showers and storms on Wednesday and then cooling down after Wednesday. Now this is not going to cure the ongoing drought in parts of North Carolina. More than 80% of the state is considered abnormally dry, or is about a quarter of the state, especially near to the east of I-95, is in a moderate drought.

According to the Durham Police Department, officers are looking for 63-year-old Sherry Sheetz. Sheetz is described as a white woman, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. The police department said Sheetz has shoulder-length white hair and blue eyes.
