ACTUALLY, THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THAT WE'VE HEARD ABOUT POLITICAL SIGNS BEING STOLEN THIS SEASON ON BOTH POLITICAL SIDES OF THE AISLE RIGHT? &gt;&gt; BUT IT IS THE FIRST REPORT WE'VE GOT ANOTHER CONFRONTATION OVER IT AT A VOTING SITE. RALEIGH POLICE CONFIRMED THAT REPORT WAS FILED. THEY ARE LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER. THE PEOPLE INVOLVED HERE SAY THEY WERE LEFT PRETTY SHAKEN UP. &gt;&gt; LISA WILLIAMS IS THE DEMOCRATIC COORDINATOR FOR THE OPTIMIST PARK. EARLY VOTING SITE. SHE WAS CHECKING ON HER VOLUNTEERS THIS MORNING WHEN SOMEONE ALERTED HER, A MAN WAS STEALING HARRIS-WALZ SIGNS. I DID SEE HIM CALL OFF THE SIGN. SAID THEN I KNEW WHO IT WAS. WILLIAMS AND SOME EARLY VOTERS CONFRONTED THE MAN AND FOLLOWED HIM TO HIS CAR WHERE HE TORE UP THE SIGNS AND SHOUTED AT THEM AND ACCUSED THEM OF TRYING TO ASSAULT HIM SERVE. PUT THIS ALL PUT THE SIGNS DOWN. THEY'RE NOT YOURS. YOU THEY'RE NOT YOUR SAYING DO WHAT'S RIGHT. &gt;&gt; IT'S NOT ILLEGAL PICTURE. IT IS ILLEGAL TO INSULT PEOPLE. LOOK FOR THAT IS HOLDING BETTER SERVE THE SIGNS DOWN THE MAN INSISTED IT'S NOT ILLEGAL TO STEAL SIGNS AND THEN READ THE MOB, USING HIS CAR KEYS AND HANDED THEM BACK BEFORE LEAVING WITH HIS WIFE AND BABY. &gt;&gt; HE STOPPED TO STEAL ONE MORE SIGN AND BLEW THEM A KISS ON THE WAY OUT. IF YOU'RE SO PROUD OF THE OCEAN. AND WILLIAM SAID SHE'S BEEN A VOLUNTEER FOR A LONG TIME BUT HAS NEVER HAD AN ENCOUNTER LIKE THIS. IT UPSETS ME WHEN SOMEBODY SEE OUTING IN. &gt;&gt; AND HE WAS YELLING THINGS THAT WEREN'T EVEN TRAY AND AND THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD SAY THE SAME. JUST MINOR TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE EXCEPT TO SAY THAT WE THINK HE'S BREAKING THE LAW AND THAT HE SHOULDN'T BE TAKING THE SIGNS. SHE SAYS THIS IS USUALLY A PEACEFUL LOCATION AND BLAMED THE CONFRONTATION ON THE SUPER HEATED POLITICAL CLIMATE. &gt;&gt; WAKE COUNTY ELECTIONS DIRECTOR OLIVIA MCCALL SAID IT HAPPENED FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM THE VOTING AREA THAT IT DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE DONE THIS YEAR WITH VOTING. &gt;&gt; I SPOKE WITH ONE OF THE VOTERS INVOLVED IN THAT CONFRONTATION THIS AFTERNOON. SHE'S ASKED NOT TO BE IDENTIFIED FOR FEAR OF HARASSMENT, BUT SHE SAID SHE CALLED POLICE BECAUSE SHE WAS CONCERNED THAT THE MAN MIGHT COME BACK WITH A GUN. NOW WE HAVE GOOD CONTACT.
