CHELSEA, WHAT WE KNOW. &gt;&gt; WE OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE A LARGE POLICE PRESENCE HERE NOT ONLY FROM NC STATE CAMPUS POLICE BUT RPD. I'M GOING TO STEP OUT OF THE WAY. WE HAVE SEEN POLICE OBVIOUSLY IN CRUISERS AND VEHICLES ON MOTORCYCLES. WE'VE SEEN RPD DRONES IN THE AIR. WE'VE SEEN ATV'S NOW. WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS CALL CAME IN JUST BEFORE 9 O'CLOCK WHERE THERE WERE REPORTS OF SHOTS FIRED INTO A CAR AT THE 1400 BLOCK OF TRAIL WOULD. AS YOU CAN SEE, WE'RE RIGHT ON CENTENNIAL CAMPUS FOR NC STATE. SO OF COURSE, THEY HAVE PUT OUT A WOLF ALLURE ALERT, RATHER WARNING STUDENTS AND STAFF OBVIOUSLY TO BE VERY VIGILANT ABOUT THIS SITUATION. WE'RE ALL BEING VERY VIGILANT ABOUT THE SITUATION BECAUSE THIS COULD BE AND WE'RE WAITING THAT UNDERSTAND THAT FROM OUR PT TO THE 6 INCIDENTS THAT HAVE HAPPENED NOW OVER THE COURSE OF THE YOU KNOW, 3 GOING ON 4 DAYS OF THE 6 CARS, AT LEAST BEING SHOT INTO ON I-40 SORT OF GOING WEST AND EASTBOUND BETWEEN CHAPEL HILL ROAD BUCK JONES ROAD AND GORMAN STREET. SO WE'RE WAITING TO SEE IF THIS IS CONNECTED. OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF POLICE ACTIVITY AT THIS TIME. WE ARE UNCERTAIN IF THEY'RE CONNECTED, BUT WE KNOW THAT 40 AND I-40 MEET 4, 4, 40 40 MEET HERE, JUST A QUARTER OF A MILE AWAY. OBVIOUSLY WE HAD SOME INTERESTING NOTES FROM RPD YESTERDAY. THEY BELIEVE THAT ALL OF THESE INCIDENTS ARE CONNECTED. WE'VE HAD ONE PERSON THAT WAS SHOT IN THE LEG ON MONDAY. WE ALSO KNOW THAT THE PERSON OR PERSONS WHO IS DOING THIS IS USING A HANDGUN, BUT THEY HAVE NO IDENTIFYING FACTORS. WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE SUSPECT OR THE ACT, RATHER SUSPECTS, RATHER THAT COULD BE BEHIND THIS INCIDENT. BUT RIGHT NOW WE'RE WORKING TO LEARN AT THIS LATEST INCIDENT RIGHT ON NC STATE'S CENTENNIAL CAMPUS HERE ON 12 TRAIL WOULD RATHER IS CONNECTED. THIS IS A CAR THAT WAS SHOT INTO A VEHICLE AROUND 9 O'CLOCK THIS MORNING. IT'S REALLY HARD NOT TO TALK ABOUT THAT SITUATION REGARDING THOSE DIFFERENT VEHICLES THAT WERE SHOT INTO OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS ARE ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING, AS YOU MENTIONED, HOW CLOSE THAT IS TO NC STATE'S CAMPUS, EVEN REALLY CLOSE HERE TO WRAL. I WONDER BECAUSE WE KNOW NOW THAT NC STATE'S POLICE IS ASSISTING RIGHT NOW WITH RIGHT, PLEASE. &gt;&gt; ANY IDEA IF THEY ARE USING DOGS OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF TOOLS OR DEVICES TO TRY TO FIND OUT WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHOOTING INTO THIS VEHICLE. &gt;&gt; YEAH, WE'VE SEEN DOGS. WE'VE SEEN COPS ON ATV'S RIDING THE GREENWAY, WHICH IS RIGHT NEAR HERE THERE ON MOTORCYCLES. WE'VE SEEN A DRONE IN THE AIR. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS SO CLOSE TO 40. IT DOESN'T FIT THE PATTERN THAT WE'VE SEEN OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS. BUT IT'S SO CLOSE AND WE'RE ALSO GETTING THEN IDENTIFYING FACTOR THAT IT A BULLET THAT STRUCK A VEHICLE. SO OBVIOUSLY THAT FALLS IN LINE WITH WHAT WE'VE BEEN SEEING OVER THE PAST 72 HOURS ALONG I-40, WE UNDERSTAND THAT THOSE PREVIOUS INCIDENTS TOO HAPPENED DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE. YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT 05:00AM TO 07:00AM. THIS WAS A LITTLE LATER THAN THAT. WE KNOW THAT OUR PD HAS BEEN FOCUSING INCREASED PATROLS ON I-40. SO THIS IS A LITTLE BIT OFF OF I-40. SO IT'S A LITTLE BIT INTERESTING THAT IT COULD BE HAPPENING HERE AGAIN. WE'RE GOING TO SURMISE OR ASSUME THAT THEY COULD BE CONNECTED. BUT OBVIOUSLY WITH THE LARGE POLICE PRESENCE THAT YOU'RE SEEING OUT HERE AND OF COURSE, THIS AREA OF TRAIL WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. WE KNOW THAT THIS IS STILL A VERY ACTIVE INVESTIGATION AT THIS TIME. AND I HAVE TO POINT THIS PART OUT TO CHELSEA.
