A Hoke County teenager was shot and killed by a Lee County deputy after charging at him with a piece of 2x4 lumber, according to authorities. The 13-year-old is accused of murdering his grandmother, Connie Linen.

THIS ONE INVOLVED A WELL WELLNESS CHECK AT PIERS PLACE WHERE THEY FOUND A WOMAN'S BODY INSIDE THE HOME. AND THAT VICTIM WITH 68 YEAR-OLD CONNIE LONDON. THIS IS THE NEW INFORMATION THROUGH THEIR INVESTIGATION. THEY TELL US THEY IDENTIFIED HER 13 YEAR-OLD GRANDSON AS THE SUSPECTED SHOOTER. THEY WERE GETTING THE PAPERWORK READY TO CHARGE HIM WITH FIRST-DEGREE MURDER AND LAW ENFORCEMENT TRACKED HIM DOWN IN LEE COUNTY YESTERDAY. AND WHILE BEING APPREHENDED, WRAL LEARNED LEE COUNTY DEPUTY SHOT AND KILLED THAT 13 YEAR-OLD AND NOW THE FBI IS CONDUCTING A SEPARATE INVESTIGATION LOOKING INTO WHAT HAPPENED. THE HOKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAYS THIS HAS BEEN A TRAGIC AND EMOTIONAL SITUATION FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED WILL CONTINUE TO ASK QUESTIONS IN THIS INVESTIGATION AND GET YOU SOME ANSWERS LATER ON.</p>
