54 HCA Healthcare Hospitals Recognized as “America’s Best Hospitals” by Healthgrades

HCA Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE: HCA), one of the nationโ€™s leading healthcare providers, today announced that 54 of its hospitals were recognized on the 2024 Healthgrades Americaโ€™s 250 Best Hospitals list for superior performance in providing care for conditions and procedures across multiple specialty lines and areas. Using a methodology focused solely on patient outcomes, this award recognizes the top 5% of hospitals in the country for clinical excellence.

โ€œWe strive for the highest standards of patient care,โ€ said Dr. Michael Cuffe, executive vice president and chief clinical officer of HCA Healthcare. โ€œThis achievement is a testament to our hospital colleaguesโ€™ steadfast dedication to providing high-quality patient care.โ€

Independent, publicly available data is used to determine a hospitalโ€™s eligibility for the list. According to Healthgrades, a hospital must have evaluations in at least 21 of the 31 Healthgrades procedures and conditions using Medicare inpatient data from the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) file from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to be considered for this award. Hospitals are then ranked based on an analysis of risk-adjusted mortality and complications rates for common procedures and conditions.

In addition to Healthgradesโ€™ 250 Best Hospitals list, a small percentage of hospitals are recognized for consistently delivering clinical excellence year over year in Americaโ€™s 100 Best Hospitals and Americaโ€™s 50 Best Hospitals lists. Hospitals that have received an Americaโ€™s 250 Best Hospitals Award consecutively over an extended period of time are evaluated by their tenure on the list and their current yearโ€™s performance to determine Healthgradesโ€™ top 1% and 2% of hospitals list.

Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina received the Americaโ€™s 50 Best Hospitals Award for being within the top 1% in the nation for consistent clinical excellence. This is the hospitalโ€™s ninth consecutive year being recognized by Healthgrades.

The ten HCA Healthcare hospitals recognized as Americaโ€™s 100 Best Hospitals for being within the top 2% in the nation for consistent clinical excellence are:

  • CJW Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia
  • HCA Florida Aventura Hospital in Aventura, Florida
