
Online travel agency Expedia (NASDAQ: EXPE) will be announcing earnings results this Thursday after market close. Hereโs what to expect.
Expedia missed analystsโ revenue expectations by 0.8% last quarter, reporting revenues of $2.99 billion, up 3.4% year on year. It was a slower quarter for the company, with a slight miss of analystsโ number of room nights booked estimates. It reported 107.7 million nights booked, up 6.4% year on year.

This quarter, analysts are expecting Expediaโs revenue to grow 4.3% year on year to $3.71 billion, slowing from the 6% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $4.09 per share.

The majority of analysts covering the company have reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. Expedia has missed Wall Streetโs revenue estimates three times over the last two years.
Looking at Expediaโs peers in the consumer internet segment, some have already reported their Q2 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Booking delivered year-on-year revenue growth of 16%, beating analystsโ expectations by 3.7%, and Shutterstock reported revenues up 21.3%, topping estimates by 7.5%. Booking traded up 1% following the results while Shutterstockโs stock price was unchanged.
