รNIMO Theatre Company will be staging โEl Bracero โ A Mariachi Operaโ at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center on September 17, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. to honor the legacy of migrant workers and the contribution of essential workers.
Set in the 1950s at the height of the Bracero program, โEl Braceroโ is a dynamic one-act โMariachi Operaโ which fuses mariachi music, ballet folklorico, and powerful โoperaโ style set pieces. โEl Braceroโ highlights the challenges and injustices workers faced in the U.S. and focuses on the bracero camps in the 1950s. โEl Braceroโ is both a cultural and educational experience that teaches an important part of Mexican-American history that is often overlooked. โEl Braceroโ is written by Rosalinda Alexander Verde.
