Elizabeth Hainen, Principal Harp at the Philadelphia Orchestra and USAIHC Artistic Director, to Perform for the Spring Concert Series

USA International Harp Competition in Bloomington, Indiana to Hold a Rare Concert Opportunity to include Special Guests Peter Stumpf, Cello & Kyung Sun Lee, Violin. A Special Reception to Follow

BLOOMINGTON, IN, February 03, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elizabeth Hainen, Principal Harpist at the Philadelphia Orchestra and recently appointed USAIHC Artistic Director will perform at the USA International Harp Competition Spring Concert, with special guests Peter Stumpf and Kyung Sun Lee.

Elizabeth Hainen has earned an international reputation as one of classical music's great harp ambassadors. Hailed by the Washington Post for her "unusual presence with silky transparency" and by the New York Times for her "earthy solidarity," she has thrilled audiences throughout the world with programs showcasing the diversity—and virtuosity—of her modern-day instrument. As Principal Harp of The Philadelphia Orchestra for over 25 years, she has presented numerous featured performances to captivated audiences and has been praised by the Philadelphia Inquirer for "her ability to blend and color the musical line" and "to find transparency in an almost timeless atmosphere."

Ms. Hainen's extraordinary talent took her to the Indiana University School of Music, where she received bachelor and artist diploma degrees as a student of Susann McDonald. She serves as the Artistic Director for the USA International Harp Competition in the very organization founded by her teacher, as well as being the Silver medalist in the first competition in 1989.

Also on stage will be Peter Stumpf, a professor of cello at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Prior to his appointment, he was principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, followed by 12 years as associate principal cellist of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Joining them will be award winning violinist Kyung Sun Lee, a professor of music in violin at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

"The USA International Harp Competition is honored to have Elizabeth Hainen in Bloomington for this wonderful Spring series concert." states Joyce Claflin, Board President. "Students at Jacobs School of Music, along with members of our community will have the opportunity to enjoy this special night of music, followed by a chance to meet everyone at our special reception immediately following."

The concert takes place Wednesday February 5th at 7p.m., at Ford-Crawford Hall in Simon Music Center at the Jacobs School of Music, 200 S. Eagleson Ave, Bloomington, IN 47405. The Concert Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7p.m. To RSVP your seat visit https://usaihc.org/elizabeth-hainen-spring-concert-2025 General Admission is also available at the door.
