It is official! The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) has independently validated and approved Illumina’s climate action GHG emissions reduction targets. Approving our targets indicates they have been confirmed to be consistent with the reductions required to keep warming to 1.5°C, the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement and most ambitious designation available through the SBTi verification process. Illumina’s targets are part of our path to NetZero by 2050, and include milestone targets such as a 46 percent reduction of emissions from our direct operations and a 46 percent reduction of emissions from our indirect operations by 2030 with a focus on the value chain elements associated with purchased materials, transportation, investments, business travel, and employee commuting.

Illumina’s net zero progress will be reported in the annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report and CDP submission. Through our science-based targets and our broader sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives, we aim to help shape a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
