Types of galvanized steel pipes and their applicable scenarios

Galvanized steel pipes, as an important type of metal pipe, are widely used in various industrial and civil applications. The zinc coating on their surface significantly enhances the corrosion resistance of the steel pipes and extends their service life. Depending on different classification standards, galvanized steel pipes can be categorized into various types, each demonstrating unique advantages in specific scenarios.

Classification of Galvanization Methods

Galvanized steel pipes are primarily divided into two categories: hot-dip galvanized steel pipes and cold galvanized steel pipes (electro-galvanized steel pipes). Hot-dip galvanized steel pipes are produced by immersing the steel pipes into molten zinc, resulting in uniform coatings, strong adhesion, and long service life. They are widely used in various fields such as construction, machinery, chemical industry, and power generation.

Usage Classification

Depending on their applications, galvanized steel pipes can be further categorized into structural galvanized pipes, hydraulic support galvanized pipes, and petrochemical equipment galvanized pipes. Structural galvanized pipes, known for their excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, are commonly used in building structures, bridges, and road guardrails. Hydraulic support galvanized pipes, with their high corrosion resistance and pressure resistance, are widely employed in oil and natural gas extraction and pipeline transportation. Petrochemical equipment galvanized pipes are particularly suitable for chemical equipment pipelines, requiring compliance with multiple critical requirements such as corrosion resistance, pressure resistance, and wear resistance.

Specification and Dimension Classification

Galvanized steel pipes can be categorized into small, medium, and large sizes based on specifications. Small-sized galvanized pipes, such as DN15 to DN40, are suitable for household water supply and drainage, gas pipelines, etc. Medium-sized pipes, like DN50 to DN100, are commonly used in industrial and municipal pipeline systems. Large-sized galvanized pipes, such as those with DN125 and above, are primarily employed in large-scale infrastructure projects like bridges and highway drainage systems.

Material Classification

In terms of materials, galvanized steel pipes mainly include galvanized carbon steel pipes and galvanized stainless steel pipes. Galvanized carbon steel pipes are low-cost and widely used, suitable for general industrial and construction applications.
