Darleen Innis Announces the Launch of Her New Novel Run, Run

Darleen Innis, an undergraduate of English Education with a minor in Journalism, has officially announced the release of her latest novel, Run, Run, through her Facebook author page, Author Tea Basket Minutes.

Following her well-received debut Women of the Guild (Pegasus, 2024), Innis returns to the rich fictional world of small-town Ohio with another emotionally charged and empowering story about friendship, courage, and personal justice. In Run, Run, two women Avery Underwood and Simone Beck face escalating abuse in the workplace and at home, and must decide how far they’re willing to go to reclaim their lives.

Avery, an assistant county engineer, finds herself exploited by her absentee boss. Frustrated and disrespected, she makes the bold decision to run against him in the fall election—forcing her to resign from her job once she qualifies for the ballot. Her campaign pits her against the town’s entrenched power structure, but she’s not alone: her quilting guild steps in with unexpected strength and strategy.

Simone Beck, newly married to a charismatic university football coach, begins to see cracks in the ideal life she envisioned. Despite her education and exposure to information about abuse, she struggles to accept the truth of her marriage. As Kyle’s control intensifies, Simone finds a path forward through the unwavering support of her quilting circle and a local women’s shelter.

In a town where everybody knows your name, these women are making up new rules,” Innis says. “One stitch, one vote, one courageous decision at a time.”

When asked what inspired the story, Innis explained, “I write for mature female readers who also happen to be quilters. Whenever I speak to guilds, I want to reach as many quilt enthusiasts who are also readers wherever they are. These are the readers mostly ladies that I write for.”

According to the 2020 Quilting Trends Survey by the Craft Industry Alliance, the average quilter is a woman in her 60s, with a household income around $74,000. “Their other hobbies include, among other things, reading,” Innis adds. “These women are my community.”

Run, Run will soon be available on Amazon. Readers can follow Darleen Innis and get updates via her Facebook page at Author Tea Basket Minutes.
