How Cement Plants Can Electrify Construction Machinery with Energy Storage

Energy Storage–Powered Green Transformation for a Cement Plant

A Commercial & Industrial Energy Storage Solution for Construction Machinery Electrification

As global industries accelerate toward decarbonization, cement plants—among the most energy-intensive industrial sectors—are under increasing pressure to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, particularly in auxiliary and construction operations that rely heavily on diesel-powered machinery.

To address this challenge, MH Energy partnered with the cement plant’s power management team to implement a commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage project focused on replacing diesel power for excavator operations. The project has successfully completed equipment installation, system commissioning, and has now entered the trial operation phase, marking a key milestone in the plant’s green energy transition.

Project Background: Electrifying Construction Machinery in High-Energy Industries

In traditional cement plant operations, construction machinery such as excavators depends largely on diesel fuel, resulting in:

High operating and fuel costs Significant carbon emissions Noise and maintenance challenges Limited energy efficiency

This project targets construction machinery energy substitution, using a customized energy storage solution to provide high-power, flexible, and reliable electricity for heavy-duty equipment—without compromising productivity.

The result is a practical pathway for reducing fossil fuel dependence while maintaining operational efficiency.

Integrated C&I Energy Storage Deployment Model

“Equipment Supply + Scenario-Based Implementation”

This project represents an innovative cross-industry integration of energy storage technology and construction machinery, using an implementation model that combines:

Industrial-grade equipment supply Real-world application scenario deployment

Despite challenges such as outdoor construction conditions, dust, high temperatures, and demanding operational cycles, the MH Energy project team efficiently completed:

Equipment transportation On-site installation System integration and commissioning

Several excavators have already begun trial operation using the new energy storage power supply, with initial testing confirming successful diesel power replacement.

Core System Configuration: High Power, High Reliability, Scalable Design

The project’s core equipment was selected to meet industrial-level performance, safety, and scalability requirements.

960kW High-Power Charging Station

Equipped with six liquid-cooled charging connectors Supports dual-gun simultaneous charging Maximum charging power up to 960kW Designed to meet the high-intensity power demands of construction machinery Technical specifications exceed national standards Touchscreen power adjustment for flexible and safe operation

Mobile Liquid-Cooled Energy Storage Containers

Two units of 1.83MWh mobile energy storage containers Standard 20-foot container design for easy transportation and deployment System voltage: 832V Expandable up to 2.089MWh, allowing capacity upgrades for future production growth

Advanced Thermal & System Design

Battery configuration: 7P260S architecture Equipped with automotive-grade liquid cooling systems Ensures stable performance under high temperatures, dusty environments, and continuous operation

This design guarantees system safety, reliability, and long service life, even in demanding industrial conditions.

Commercial & Industrial Value and Industry Demonstration Significance

Both parties recognize the strong demonstration value of this project. It validates:

The feasibility of energy storage systems for construction machinery The adaptability of C&I energy storage solutions in heavy industrial environments A scalable model for future deployment in cement plants, mining sites, and infrastructure projects

The project establishes a solid foundation for long-term collaboration, including:

Energy storage product upgrades Expansion into additional industrial application scenarios Deeper integration of energy storage with electrified machinery

A Replicable Model for High-Energy-Consumption Industry Transformation

This project provides a replicable “Technology + Application Scenario + Ecosystem” model for energy transition in high-energy-consuming industries.

Looking ahead, MH Energy will continue working closely with industrial clients to:

Advance energy storage product development Expand application scenarios Enable large-scale deployment of energy storage in construction machinery and industrial operations

Through coordinated efforts across the industrial value chain, this project contributes meaningfully to carbon reduction goals and sustainable industrial development.
