EngageSmart Appoints Alan Canzano as Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy

EngageSmart (NYSE: ESMT), the leading provider of vertically focused software solutions for essential tasks and services, today announced the appointment of Alan Canzano as Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy, to the Company’s enterprise leadership team.

Prior to joining EngageSmart, Canzano spent seven years at Salesforce Inc., most recently as Senior Director of Product Management. While in that role, he drove the development and launch of Salesforce Payments, Salesforce’s new payments processing solution.

“Alan Canzano brings a wealth of expertise in product development, strategic partnerships, and M&A—all areas that are critical to the continued growth and success of our enterprise business,” says EngageSmart CEO Bob Bennett. “He’s also a well-rounded person who shares our values that the best way to treat customers well is to first ensure we treat our employees well. I’m confident that he will help our team work together to be our competitive best.”

Earlier in his career, Canzano worked on the Merger & Strategic Advisory team at Goldman Sachs, helping to close transactions in excess of $3B in enterprise value. He went on to become co-founder and Managing Partner of Cronus Partners LLC, an investment banking boutique. In addition to winning and executing investment banking mandates of all types in software, SaaS, and other technology areas specializing in payments, ecommerce, and retailing industries, Canzano managed the firm’s team across operations, finance, personnel, compliance, marketing, and service delivery/advisory.

“EngageSmart’s vision—that the things we need to do every day 'shouldn't be so hard'—really grabbed me,” says Alan Canzano. “Technology can be a powerful force to improve the human experience, digitizing and automating the mundane and allowing humans to spend more time on the things they value. I'm thrilled to be joining the talented and energetic EngageSmart team to help execute that mission.”

Canzano holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.A. in International Relations from Yale, and an A.B. in Philosophy from Princeton University.
