Publix Super Markets Charities Donates $5.65M for Hunger Alleviation

Publix associates volunteering across Southeast for Publix Serves Week

Publix Super Markets Charities (PSMC) announced today it will donate $5.65 million to 328 Feeding America® member food banks and other nonprofit organizations working to alleviate hunger throughout the Southeast.

To further support hunger alleviation efforts, nearly 6,300 Publix associates are volunteering with 205 nonprofits throughout the company’s operating area, each with a mission to help people experiencing food insecurity, during Publix Serves Week.

“For many of our neighbors, a daily meal isn’t a choice of what they will eat, but if they will eat. It may be a choice between eating a meal or paying an electric bill. We want to help alleviate that burden by putting nourishing food on the tables of our neighbors in need,” said Publix CEO Todd Jones. “With the donation from Publix Charities and the volunteer efforts of Publix associates, we’re honored to do good, together for our communities.”

“Wholesome food is fundamental for the health and well-being of our communities, and too many lack access to this basic need,” said Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot. “These gifts from Publix Super Markets Charities further our mission to provide access to nutritious food. We’re grateful to Publix and Publix Super Markets Charities for their continued commitment to helping alleviate hunger.”
