Expensify and Pride Northwest Celebrates LGBTQIA2S+ History Month and National Coming Out Day on October 11th

In downtown Portland, the public is invited to a free art show featuring local artists from the LGBTQ+ community at the Expensify Lounge.

Portlanders are invited to explore local artwork from our LGBTQIA2S+ community with a special guest performance by Joaquin Lopez, one of Portland's Creative Laureates. Guests can also enjoy complimentary drinks and appetizers at this all-ages event.

“Over the years we’ve been active in sharing our beautiful Portland workspace with key community folks that align with our values,” says Mandy Alvey, Product Operations Associate at Expensify. “Now that we’re in a post-pandemic world, we wanted to re-open our doors by partnering with Pride Northwest to co-host our very first art show. The art show will take place in our new gallery at our Expensify Lounge for National Coming Out Day and will feature artwork from the LGBTQIA2S+ community.”

National Coming Out Day was inspired by a march on October 11, 1987, when 500,000 people gathered in Washington, D.C. to champion Lesbian and Gay Rights. The initial idea was grounded in the feminist and gay liberation spirit, with an emphasis on coming out among family, friends, and colleagues, and living life as an openly LGBTQIA2S+.
