MACH Alliance Strengthens Position as a Technology Leader, Responding to Growing Market Needs From Business Community

The Alliance announces: key business leader appointments to leadership, a newly elected and diverse board, refreshed messaging and brand positioning to global business leaders, and a continued commitment to educating the market and smoothing the path to composable

MACH Alliance, a not-for-profit industry body dedicated to advocating for open, best-of-breed technology ecosystems, today announced key initiatives that strengthen its position as a technology leader and reflect the maturity of MACH and composability in the larger market. To reflect the growing adoption of MACH technologies by business leaders, the Alliance reveals a newly elected, diverse board that includes the Alliance’s first business leader Chairperson. The MACH Alliance also unveiled a refreshed look and mission statement, reflecting its steadfast commitment as stewards for brands transforming their digital strategies through composable architectures.

Announcing leaders of the new MACH Alliance board

The Alliance has announced four appointments to its Executive Board. In addition, the association’s focus on business leader appointments aims to provide a stronger voice for end-user companies that use MACH technology. The first of these appointments is a new Chairperson of the Executive Board, with a new Head of Education to be announced in the coming weeks. Appointments include:

  • Bob Howland, previously chief digital officer of Dawn Foods, to serve as Chairperson of the MACH Alliance Executive Board providing the organization with an external perspective to underpin its strategy and priorities, and setting clear accountability and expectations of the Alliance as a neutral industry body.

“The MACH Alliance is at a key inflection point. These appointments and new mission and vision reflect the organization’s understanding that MACH principles are no longer radical but an established approach to enterprise business,” said Howland. “Composability and MACH are the new norm, and the MACH Alliance must step up and support businesses to not only leverage but embrace the opportunity.”

MACH Alliance board members come from diverse backgrounds in technology and are outspoken advocates regarding the benefits of open and transformative composable architectures. In total, the Alliance board includes nine seats, elected to serve for two-year terms. Members went through a comprehensive nomination process that began in August, culminating with voting in September, with the new board having its inaugural board meeting in Chicago on Oct. 8.

The four newly elected board members are:

  • Casper Rasmussen, global SVP, Valtech — Re-elected to the board and remaining as president of the Alliance, Rasmussen leads the association’s global strategy and is entrusted with continuing the Alliance’s rapid growth and revamped mission.
  • Dom Selvon, CTO, Apply Digital — Re-elected to the board and appointed as a co-vice president, Selvon has also made great strides in supporting the Alliance’s Technology Councils and Interoperability Taskforce.
  • Kimberly Matenchuk, managing director, Cloudinary — Newly elected, Matenchuk is based in the UK and will lead the Alliance’s DEIB strategy including the fast-growing Women in MACH initiative.
  • Malte Ubl, CTO, and artificial general UI, Vercel — Newly elected, Ubl will bring high-level expertise on AI and MACH’s role in working with innovative technologies.

In addition, continuing board members Jasmin Guthmann and Krithika Ganesamoorthi have also been appointed as co-vice presidents who will serve on the Executive Board’s leadership team. Finally, Amer Ali, VP of finance, Netlify, has been newly appointed as the Alliance’s Treasurer and will play a critical role in the organization’s Leadership Team.

Launching an up-leveled mission and scaled educational programs

As MACH Alliance embarks on its fifth year in service, the organization overhauled its mission, vision, and branding to reflect the organization’s maturity and momentum supporting the demand for open, composable technology solutions. The MACH Alliance has seen consistent growth in its four years, partnering with industry leaders such as Paypal and J.P. Morgan, expanding reach beyond Europe to greater North America, and championing high-impact global companies leveraging MACH approaches like Kraft Heinz and Clarks.

In addition, the Alliance has scaled its educational programs, tools, and community resources. As well as seeing more than 1,100 registrations for its foundational learning platform, rideMACH since its launch last spring, the Alliance also launched an Interoperability Hub and will continue to create resources and best practices into 2025. The MACH Alliance also has a new location and date for its flagship annual gathering of business and technical leaders — “The Composable Conference” — which will take place April 22-24, 2025 in Chicago.

To reflect the MACH Alliance’s refreshed mission and vision, the Alliance’s updated logo is an evolution from the rebellious spirit of 2020 and demonstrates a cleaner, stronger and more mature look and feel, whilst retaining its quirky edge. This visual update reflects the ongoing evolution of the MACH Alliance as an industry leader and an established authority in the composable space.
