Infinitum Named as a Finalist in the World Renowned 2024 Edison Awards

Infinitum’s groundbreaking latest gen Aircore EC motor honored for excellence in the Sustainability category

Infinitum, creator of the sustainable air-core motor, has been named a finalist in the 2024 Edison Awards. The company is being honored in the Sustainability category for its latest generation Aircore EC motor system, which is designed to power commercial and industrial applications, such as HVAC fans, pumps and data centers with less energy consumption, reduced emissions and reduced waste.

The Edison Awards evaluates nominees based on four criteria including concept, value, delivery and impact, and selects innovators based on their ability to solve important problems, offer game-changing advantages over alternatives and impact the environment and society as a whole. This is the second consecutive year that Infinitum has been named a finalist in the prestigious Edison Awards.

Motors consume more than half the planet’s electricity. Demand for motors is increasing as the world electrifies, but most motors waste energy, finite resources and are thrown into landfills at end-of-life.

Infinitum’s latest generation Aircore EC motor system features an integrated variable frequency drive and delivers upwards of 93% system efficiency, as well as class-leading power and torque density in a low-footprint package that is 20% lighter than the previous version, with new features for easier installation and serviceability. Infinitum’s Aircore EC motors systems can also be tailored to fit specific application power, torque and input current requirements giving customers the opportunity to save on upfront infrastructure costs while saving energy. This is more economical and sustainable for customers who normally would only have the choice to use an off-the-shelf, standard-sized motor.

A majority of conventional motors find their way into landfills at end-of-life. Infinitum motors use fewer raw materials in manufacturing and modular design allows for motors to be easily serviced, repaired, remanufactured or recycled to keep motors in service and out of landfills.

“At Infinitum we’re building a more sustainable future for everyone with innovative motor systems that can help decarbonize some of the highest-emitting sectors in the world today,” said Ben Schuler, founder and CEO, Infinitum. “Our latest gen Aircore EC pushes the boundaries of sustainability with higher levels of efficiency, power and torque density in a smaller, field-friendly package that can be reused for future generations. The entire team at Infinitum is thrilled to be named an Edison Awards finalist for a second year in a row.”

All nominations are reviewed by the Edison Awards’ Steering Committee and an executive judging body. The panel is comprised of more than 2,000 senior business executives and academics from the fields of product development, design, engineering, science, marketing and education, as well as past winners.

Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be announced at the Edison Awards Gala on Thursday, April 18, 2024 in Fort Myers, FL. For more information on the Edison Awards, please visit www.edisonawards.com. Applications for the 2025 awards will open this summer.
