University of Phoenix recognizes Financial Literacy Month with student-focused tools to support financial wellbeing

The University’s iGrad® money-management tool, scholarship opportunities and transfer-friendly policies among the suite of options designed to support students

University of Phoenix is pleased to recognize National Financial Literacy Month through its ongoing commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals while providing tools and scholarship opportunities that support financial wellness. This year marks the 21st anniversary of April as National Financial Literacy Month, a milestone that underscores the importance of financial education in a rapidly evolving economic landscape. According to a College Board study the cost of college has accelerated quickly over the past few decades.

“At University of Phoenix, our mission is to empower students in both their academic pursuits and career aspirations while helping them discover ways to save time and money,” states Chief Academic Officer and Provost, John Woods, Ph.D. “We are committed to providing our students with resources that promote financial literacy, which can help them navigate their educational journey.”

University of Phoenix offers a suite of resources and tools to help students manage their finances responsibly. One such resource is the iGrad® online money-management tool, which students can use to learn how to budget, save, minimize borrowing and understand future student loan payments. Additionally, iGrad® provides a scholarship search tool for non-University scholarships. iGrad® is registered trademark of iGrad® Inc.

The iGrad® platform features several interactive tools to promote students’ overall financial wellness, including:

  • A five-minute financial wellness assessment to point students to the most relevant resources for their needs
  • A “money personality” assessment designed to help students better understand their spending habits
  • A credit score tool to help students quickly access their score and learn how to improve credit
  • Free courses on setting up savings accounts, managing student loans and planning for retirement

In addition to resources like iGrad®, University of Phoenix offers multiple scholarship opportunities, including the opportunity to apply for a Transfer Student Scholarship with a maximum value of $3,000 applied over 20 courses provided a student maintains eligibility, for qualified new students with 12-60 combined transfer credits from accredited institution(s) pursuing their bachelor's degree at University of Phoenix.

Individuals interested in exploring additional opportunities to save time and money at the University may use the University’s Savings Explorer™ tool for prospective students. The Savings Explorer tool presents information about scholarship opportunities, as well as transferring college credit and earning credit for prior learning through Prior Learning Assessment, national testing programs, alternative course providers, and military service. By answering a few simple questions, prospective students can find out what other students with relevant experience have saved.
