CyberSheath Opens Registration for CMMC CON 2024: Behind the Screen

Geopolitical headlines have focused on overseas conflicts while here at home, the United States' critical infrastructure is under attack. The federal government has warned that adversaries are waging cyberattacks that target water systems, electrical grids, and military secrets. The Department of Homeland Security has demonstrated that it’s serious about the private sector properly securing its critical systems and sensitive data.

The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program is the mechanism by which the Department of Defense (DOD) requires defense industrial base (DIB) contractors to comply. Despite the program being years in the making, many contractors are still not prepared.

CyberSheath, the largest CMMC managed service vendor in the DIB, aims to arm contractors with the tools they need to succeed at CMMC CON, our annual, free, virtual, one-day conference and longest-running CMMC event. CMMC CON 2024: Behind the Screen, will be held on Sept. 25, 2024, at 9 a.m. EDT and registration is now open.

“CMMC CON has been a keystone event for us over the years, and our way of encouraging the entire DIB to mature its security posture through free tools and information-sharing sessions,” said Eric Noonan, CEO of CyberSheath. “This year’s focus is on safeguarding against unseen threats from adversaries that keep advancing in the cyber battlefield. The event has grown each year which shows there’s a keen interest by these contractors to achieve compliance and help protect our nation’s secrets.”

Sessions at this year’s event include:

  • Sounding the Alarm: The False Claims Act Impact on the DIB
  • Protecting National Security: Leaning into CMMC
  • How the Bad Guys Get In and How CMMC Controls Work in Tandem to Support Prevention
  • Strategies for Contractors in the RFP Process: Proposals 101
  • Blueprint to CMMC Level 2: Understanding NIST 800-171 Controls
  • From Vendors to Verification: Ensuring a CMMC-Compliant Supply Chain

Last year’s event included insights from Bailey Bickley, Chief of DIB Defense at the NSA; Dr. Ron Ross, Fellow at NIST; and Steve Shirley, Executive Director of the National Defense ISAC. Speakers for this year’s event include Julie Bracker, Partner at Bracker & Marcus LLC, Amy Williams, Coalfire Federal, Michael Berger, Capgemini Government Solutions, Erin Butt, Odyssey Systems Consulting Group, LLC, and Kelly Mullins, Edge Case Research. More speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

CMMC CON 2024 attendees will gain insights from industry experts, learn how the threat landscape is changing, and understand the tools available to achieve compliance and better protect their organizations. Registrants will be eligible to win prizes for their trivia knowledge, receive a complimentary “State of the DIB” eBook with the latest research about contractors’ cybersecurity posture, and witness a black belt ceremony for those who complete a six-part cybersecurity compliance ninja training course.
