Bobbie Joins Forces with New Dad Tan France To Continue Advocating For Paid Leave Amid Alarming Statistics: 70% of New Fathers in the U.S. Return to Work Within Two Weeks

Bobbie continues its Parents Push Harder Campaign with Tan France, a two time father via surrogacy, to amplify his experience, voice, and platform to pass Paid Leave for all birthing and non-birthing parents.

Bobbie, the mom-founded pediatric nutrition company, is joining forces once more with Tan France, an original member of the Bobbie MotherBoard, TV Host, Fashion Designer and two-time Bobbie dad, to push harder for guaranteed Paid Leave for moms and dads in the United States. In a new installment of their Parents Push Harder campaign with Bobbie titled, ‘When Dads Take Leave, France opens up about returning to work just one week after welcoming their second baby. He believes every parent deserves time at home, whether they are a birthing parent or non-birthing parent and no matter their job. As America grapples with a paid leave problem, Bobbie and Tan France continue to advocate on their platforms and educate their communities about the shortcomings in our federal system that fail to support modern parents. His story is about the right to return to work on your own terms, on your own timeline.

Data shows that fathers who take two or more weeks of paternity leave are 25% more likely to be involved in their child's care nine months later, leading to children with fewer behavioral problems and higher cognitive scores. But data also shows that only 5% of fathers take only two weeks, if they have leave at all.

“I’m convinced that whoever said that paid leave is a paid vacation, has never raised their own child,” said Tan France, Fashion Designer, Bobbie MotherBoard Member and Bobbie Dad. “I recognize I am privileged, but I know firsthand being a full time caretaker is the hardest job in the world. I now feel a responsibility to speak up on behalf of all the new parents going back to work just weeks after having a baby. It’s inhumane and we can and should do better for our parents in America.”

“The fight for Paid Leave is not just for moms to fight— it’s every family’s fight. We know that time spent at home with your baby leads to happier children, better supported partners and spouses, and fewer mental health issues for either parent. Since day one as a brand we have proudly taken a stand– not just for moms– but for diverse family units from all over the US,” said Kim Chappell, Bobbie’s Chief Brand Officer. “Tan is a queer, immigrant with two babies via surrogacy, and his unique and powerful voice on this issue is representative of so many modern families who are typically left out of the conversation. By advocating together for The FAMILY Act— in an election year no less— we hope all parents and caregivers will get the support they need and deserve with Paid Leave FOR ALL in America.”

In the U.S., the landscape of paid leave reflects a historical struggle, often led by women advocating for equal rights, equal pay, and crucially, paid leave. While these efforts have rightly focused on empowering women in the workplace and ensuring their rightful place in professional settings, there's a growing recognition that for true gender equality to be achieved, fathers must also be supported in their caregiving roles. It's time for a paradigm shift where women, having fought for their rights and recognition, now lift up fathers to play an equally active role in the household—not only supporting their spouses but nurturing their children as well. Recognizing that fathers' involvement is crucial for children's development, paid leave for fathers leads to a more balanced household dynamic where children benefit from diverse parental care and guidance, setting a positive foundation for their growth and well-being.

“Our society has made a bad habit of praising new dads who jump right back into work– even when they are offered some amount of paid leave. It still is not normalized in the US for dads to take time off and prioritize their partners and their baby. It is uniquely an American issue and it’s time to shift the culture– this will only happen when everyone has equal access to paid leave and unapologetically takes it in full,” said Sarah Hardy, Bobbie Co-Founder and Chief Experience and People Officer.

If passed, the FAMILY act would give all workers up to 12 weeks of paid leave to care for a new child. Bobbie’s message remains the same: It’s time to pass the FAMILY Act now.
