University of Phoenix Hosts On-Demand Webinar, “The Ins and Outs of Transfer Credit”

Webinar is part of focus highlighting the value of transfer credit and credit for prior learning for working adult learners during National Transfer Student Week

University of Phoenix offers a free, on-demand webinar on the practical aspects of transfer credit and earning college credit for prior learning through life and work experiences, titled “The Ins and Outs of Transfer Credit.” The webinar, hosted by the Admissions and Evaluation team, is part of the University’s outreach during National Transfer Student Week to raise awareness and understanding of the practical ways that transferring college credit can save students time and money.

Transferring credit can lower costs and help individuals find the school that best fits their educational needs and career aspirations. In the past year alone, University of Phoenix accepted more than one million transfer credits for bachelor’s and associate degree programs, with an average of 33 credits per bachelor’s transfer student and 13 credits per associates transfer student.

“Transferring college credits can revive an individual’s educational journey,” shares Devin Andrews, Vice President of Admissions and Evaluation, and co-author of a white paper on credit mobility. “Being able to apply previously earned, eligible credits can be a powerful accelerator to finishing a degree. Our policies are designed to help students identify qualifying college transfer credits as well as work and life experiences for potential college credit.”

This on-demand session will cover:

  • Valuable information regarding transfer credit opportunities
  • How transfer credits can save you time and money
  • The different ways to utilize transfer credits in your program

The webinar shares information about the new University of Phoenix mobile app, TransferPath, designed to help prospective students with some credit, but no degree, quickly see potential savings with a free college credit pre-evaluation.

The webinar also highlights opportunities of credit for prior learning (CPL), or Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), which allows individuals to demonstrate learning gained from work and life experience that may count towards a degree. The assessment includes evaluation of on-the-job training, workplace certifications, military service, and other life experiences. University of Phoenix provides assessment of prior learning at no cost to students.

The discussion features insights from Deslie Ghiorzi, Manager, College Articulation and Gregory Jose, Manager, Admissions, and is moderated by Christina Ruppel, Manager, Creative Content Development.
