University of Phoenix Team Leads Digital Accessibility Session at M-Enabling Summit

At G3ict’s digital accessibility conference, the team will share shift-left design practices that build welcoming, compliant user experiences.

University of Phoenix announces that Janet Brims Fukuda, manager, Accessibility and Usability, and Sunni Curtis, digital accessibility specialist, will present at the M-Enabling Summit, the annual conference and showcase of G3ict (Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies) held in Washington, D.C., October 6-8, 2025. Their parallel session, “Shifting Accessibility from QA to Design,” details how the University applies a shift-left design practice integrating digital accessibility early in the UX/UI design process to create more welcoming, compliant products and reduce downstream rework.

“When we embed accessibility at the start—participating in design syncs and annotating accessibility requirements directly in design artifacts—we help teams build better experiences for everyone, improve developer hand-offs, and lower the risk of non-compliance,” shares Fukuda.

The 2025 M-Enabling Summit, with the theme, "Digital Accessibility Innovation—A Deep Dive into Next-Generation User Experiences," explores the latest tech trends and advancements in accessibility, offering roundtables, workshops and discussions for participants. Recognized as a leading executive gathering for accessible technology and inclusive design, the M-Enabling Summit brings together leaders and stakeholders including technology companies, developers, business executives, and accessibility professionals across government, education, industry, and nonprofit sectors. Its plenary sessions, focused breakouts, featured events, dynamic networking, and exhibit hall showcase innovations that empower 1.3 billion people with disabilities worldwide to engage with digital content, products, services, and environments.

Fukuda manages Accessibility and Usability at University of Phoenix, where she oversees Digital Accessibility and assistive technology services, coordinates curricular accessibility, and serves as a subject matter expert for digital content creators. Fukuda holds a Master's in Education/Special Education with an Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Assistive Technology from Northern Arizona University, and is an IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies.

As a Digital Accessibility Specialist, Curtis collaborates closely with developers, designers, and content creators to ensure that digital assets meet accessibility standards. Curtis earned a Bachelor of Science in Technical Communication concentrating in User Experience from Arizona State University. She is also an IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies.
