How we made Fortune’s list: Fortune teamed up with market research and data firm Statista to select America’s Most Innovative Companies based on product innovation, process innovation and innovation culture. Statista’s evaluation process included online surveys where employees could score their own company on a scale system, surveys of experts in various fields and a partnership with LexisNexis PatentSight to analyze the quantity and value of patents.
