PlayLA Opens Fall 2025 Youth Sports Registration, Welcoming All to Play

This fall, the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks invites families across the city to get moving with its PlayLA Youth & Adaptive Youth Sports Program. With registration now open, Angelenos can access a vibrant season of affordable, inclusive and empowering youth sports across more than 120 recreation centers and aquatic facilities.

With Flag Football being named an Olympic Sport for the 2028 Games, PlayLA is excited to announce Co-Recreational and Girls PlayLA Leagues in Flag Football.

With Flag Football being named an Olympic Sport for the 2028 Games, PlayLA is excited to announce Co-Recreational and Girls PlayLA Leagues in Flag Football.

Backed by the landmark $160 million investment from the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), PlayLA continues to offer high-quality sports programming for youth of all abilities, with most programs costing just $10 per season—and scholarships available for qualifying families.

This fall’s offerings run from October through December and include:

  • Recreation Leagues: With Flag Football being named an Olympic Sport for the 2028 Games, PlayLA is excited to announce Co-Recreational and Girls PlayLA Leagues in Flag Football. Girls PlayLA Volleyball, along with Co-Recreational and Girls PlayLA Soccer Leagues in partnership with The Angel City Football Club will be offered as well.
  • Aquatics Programs: Dive, Team SwimLA, USA Swim and Novice Swim, are taking place across pools citywide.
  • Adaptive Clinics:
    • Blind & Visually Impaired Soccer — Free clinics for youth ages 5–17 held in Hubert Humphrey Recreation Center in Pacoima, Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center in South LA and the Mar Vista Recreation Center, various dates October – November.
    • All Abilities Pickleball — Weekly sessions at Westwood Recreation Center from October 6–December 9.
    • Adaptive & Wheelchair Basketball — Inclusive clinics hosted in Chatsworth and Westwood Recreation Centers, Angels State Park and East Wilmington Greenbelt Community Center, various dates starting August 31 – October 4.

“PlayLA is building a more inclusive Los Angeles by expanding access to play,” said Veronica Polanco, Chief Innovation Officer at the Department of Recreation and Parks. “This fall, we’re proud to offer a wide range of adaptive and traditional programs where all young people can thrive, build community and experience the joy of sport.”

Programs are open to youth ages 3–17. Parents and caregivers can sign up at LAParks.org or via the LA Parks mobile app.

As the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games draw closer, PlayLA continues to serve as a legacy in action, bringing Olympic spirit and opportunity to every neighborhood. Through fun, fitness and community, PlayLA is helping young Angelenos grow into confident, healthy leaders on and off the field.
