College of Business and Information Technology prepares students for evolving roles in cybersecurity, AI, and digital infrastructure

University of Phoenix proudly recognizes National IT Professionals Day, celebrating the vital contributions of information technology professionals and its ongoing commitment to career-relevant education through the College of Business and Information Technology.

Observed annually on the third Tuesday of September, National IT Professionals Day honors the individuals who design, secure, and maintain the digital infrastructure relied upon across industries. University of Phoenix supports current and aspiring IT professionals through flexible, career-aligned programs designed to help meet evolving workforce needs and support working adults build relevant, in-demand skills.

Led by Dean Kathryn Uhles, MIS, MSP, the College of Business and Information Technology offers programs that reflect current market needs and prepare students for real-world roles. All associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs open for new enrollment in the college are fully skills-mapped to reported employer expectations, and faculty bring an average of 32 years of professional experience across positions such as chief information officers, cybersecurity leaders, and IT administrators.

A recently published white paper, The Future of IT: What IT Practitioners Predict Will Drive Career Opportunities, authored by J.L. Graff, Ed.D., associate dean of IT programs, presents insights from a national survey of 1,000 IT professionals. The paper explores emerging trends, including generative AI, cybersecurity, and quantum computing, and highlights the growing importance of professional development and self-directed learning in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
