Valley National Bank Appoints Patrick Smith as Senior Executive Vice President - Consumer Banking President

Valley National Bancorp (NASDAQ: VLY), the holding company for Valley National Bank, announced today the appointment of Patrick Smith as Senior Executive Vice President, President of Consumer Banking. In this newly expanded role, Mr. Smith will be responsible for leading the bank's consumer business strategy, overseeing retail banking operations and driving growth across products and services that serve individual customers throughout Valley's footprint. He will lead branch banking, small business banking, deposit generation initiatives, consumer lending activity and customer experience, ensuring Valley delivers on its brand promise as a relationship-focused bank.

"Consumer banking is about more than products—it’s about building trust and creating access for people to reach their financial goals," said Mr. Smith. "That's why I'm excited to join Valley and work with our talented teams to deliver exceptional experiences, expand our retail branch capabilities and position our organization as a true partner throughout the communities we serve."

Mr. Smith brings extensive leadership experience from across the retail banking sector. Most recently, he served as Head of Consumer & Business Banking at Santander, where he led a team of nearly 3,500 employees and managed a U.S. retail banking business with approximately $48 Billion in deposits and $14 Billion in loans. Prior to Santander, he was an executive vice president at KeyBank and has held significant leadership roles at Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Capital One. Earlier in his career, Mr. Smith worked in Accenture's strategy practice, advising his clients on a global scale.

"Patrick's leadership, vision and deep experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve our consumer business," commented Ira Robbins, CEO of Valley Bank. "We are confident that he is the right leader to execute on our strategic vision and ensure we continue to deliver exceptional value to all our stakeholders."
