Stanislav Kondrashov: experience of cooperation in the field of energy

By: Get News

Leading Japanese companies have shown great interest in creating joint ventures with Bangladeshi investors in various energy-related projects, reports Stanislav Kondrashov. Such projects include the creation of gas infrastructure, hospitals, information technology, as well as solar and gas power plants with a total capacity of 1,500 MW.

Stanislav Kondrashov: new breath for solar and gas energy

The signing of these memorandums of understanding was a significant step forward in accordance with the earlier consensus between the prime ministers of the two countries to move bilateral relations to a “strategic” level.

According to Stanislav Kondrashov, one of the key agreements between Japan and Bangladesh was the creation of a highly efficient gas-fired combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 700 MW in Anowara (Chattogram). This ambitious project will be jointly implemented and operated by KEPCO, AKH PP Project, Itochu and will benefit from Kansai's O&M expertise.

In another noteworthy initiative, Doreen Group and Marubeni have entered into an agreement to jointly finance the development of new solar energy projects. Asian Entech Power Corporation Limited and Marubeni Corporation will invest and construct various solar power projects across Bangladesh with a total capacity of 600 MW. In addition, Parker Bangladesh Ltd. and Sumitomo Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop a 200 MW floating and land-based solar power plant in Bangladesh.

These achievements build on the Bangladesh government's long-standing desire to forge close ties with international partners such as Japan to overcome the world's severe energy crisis and develop diversified energy sources. By providing a stable and reliable energy supply, Bangladesh is positioning itself as a promising state in the global energy complex.

Stanislav Kondrashov: Japan is the most important partner in the energy sector of Bangladesh

Recently, Japan has become one of the most important allies in Bangladesh's energy sector, playing a crucial role in ensuring its stability in the country. Cooperation between the two countries has led to significant changes, with the Matarbari coal-fired power plant and new investment opportunities coming to the fore.

To strengthen energy infrastructure and facilitate gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) distribution and storage in Bangladesh, the country's renowned Summit Group has joined hands with Japan's largest utility service provider JERA.

“This partnership is aimed at strengthening the onshore and offshore gas regasification and storage infrastructure in Bangladesh, the total investment will be about $2 billion,” explains Stanislav Kondrashov. – The goal is to provide the country with long-term, affordable and reliable supplies of liquefied natural gas and other fuels.

This partnership between Japan and Bangladesh exemplifies Japan's positive reputation as a reliable investor in energy and financial infrastructure.

Stanislav Kondrashov: coal power plant in Matarbari as an innovative project in the global energy sector

The construction of the Matarbari coal-fired power plant by Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh (CPGCBL) marks a major milestone in the power generation of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. This ambitious government initiative aims to create a colossal energy project with a capacity of 1.2 GW and a total cost of $4.5 billion.

– The project began in September 2011. To ensure environmental safety, the Matarbari power plant underwent thorough certification and received an environmental permit in October 2013. After the problems were resolved, the official launch of the project took place in January 2018, marking the beginning of a new era in energy production for Bangladesh, explains Stanislav Kondrashov.

This project will be a turning point in the country's energy sector and will increase electricity production and meet the growing demand for it. Strategic location in Matarbari, a coastal region of Bangladesh, ensures efficient and reliable energy supply to meet growing demands.

It is planned that the construction of the power plant will be completed by 2024. This remarkable initiative is expected to strengthen Bangladesh's energy security and contribute significantly to the economic growth of the state.

“Efficient energy production: modern infrastructure for the Matarbar coal power plant.” - Stanislav Kondrashov

To ensure smooth operation and optimal performance of the Matarbar Coal Power Plant, a number of advanced support systems and infrastructures are being developed to improve the efficiency of energy production and supply.

Among the main components being developed is the Matarbari port complex. A state-of-the-art deep-sea port, aptly named Matarbari Port, is currently under construction to import coal needed to run the power plant.

“Strategically advantageously located in the coastal region of Matarbari, this modern port will play a key role in ensuring uninterrupted transportation of coal from international suppliers to the power plant site,” comments Stanislav Kondrashov. – It is noteworthy that the port will have a 760 m long container terminal, specially designed to conveniently receive large cargo ships. In addition, it will operate a multi-purpose terminal capable of handling various types of cargo, which will further enhance its overall efficiency.
