What to Expect from Black Friday 2025

The holiday season is approaching fast, and with it comes Black Friday 2025, one of the biggest retail moments of the year. Falling on Friday, November 28, the event marks the unofficial start of the festive shopping season, with most retailers, including Bedshed, launching deals earlier to benefit shoppers.

As cost-of-living pressures continue, value is the defining theme of this year’s sale period. More Australians are using Black Friday to secure big-ticket essentials at lower prices, from homewares to mattresses and furniture. Retail experts predict continued growth across key retail categories, with total Australian spending for Black Friday and Cyber Monday expected to climb beyond previous records.

“Black Friday isn’t just about discounts anymore, it’s about helping Australians make smarter, longer-term purchase decisions,” says Luke Clarke, General Manager of Operations & Marketing at Bedshed.

“We’re seeing a shift towards value, trust, and transparency in how customers shop. They want confidence in both quality and price.”

Originally a U.S. tradition, Black Friday has become an annual fixture in Australia’s retail calendar. It now rivals Boxing Day as the nation’s largest sales event, with shoppers planning for weeks to maximise their savings.

This year, several trends are shaping how consumers engage with the sales season:

  • Smart shopping and research-first behaviour. Customers are doing more research before they purchase, comparing prices and looking for genuine value and quality over headline discounts.

  • Durability and longevity. Buyers are increasingly opting for durable, environmentally conscious products.

  • Hybrid retail experiences. Many customers now browse in-store but buy online, or vice versa, expecting a seamless experience between both.

  • Wellness-driven purchases. The rise of sleep technology and premium comfort products continues as Australians prioritise comfort, rest, and recovery.

Bedshed’s Black Friday sale officially launches on Monday, November 10, 2025, giving shoppers an early opportunity to explore the best deals before the rush begins. Cyber Monday follows on Monday, December 1, extending the discount window for digital shoppers. Together, the events form a week-long retail moment that continues to blur the lines between physical and digital commerce.

With demand high and household budgets under pressure, Bedshed expects another record year for sleep-related purchases. Shoppers are encouraged to plan early, compare offers, and focus on quality investments that will pay off well beyond the sale period.
