From layoff to life-changing opportunity, this father’s journey has been nothing short of inspirational. When Jeff found himself laid off in the spring of 2024, he couldn’t have predicted that a YouTube video would change the course of his life.
“Tell us about a year ago, when things changed dramatically,” podcast host Bud Rebel asked Jeff during the interview.
Jeff recalled, “When I think back to Spring of 2024, I had recently been laid off. I’m sitting here thinking, what am I gonna do? My son introduced me to Mr Beast’s videos and a few weeks later I saw open applications for Beast Games.”
Motivated by his son and a powerful cause, Jeff made a decision that would set him on an unexpected path. “I said, you know I just got laid off, my son loves this, I want to apply.” A decision that forever altered the path of his and his son Lucas’s and what may have started as a personal turning point, quickly evolved into a mission.
During the podcast, Mr. Rebel asked Jeff what he’s been doing with his life now. Jeff responded with conviction, opening up and sharing his personal experience about son Lucas and his overall goals and vision, “the ultimate aim, the reason why I signed up was to be able to go and share Lucas’s story. Lucas has creatine transporter deficiency (CTD), it’s an ultra-rare brain disease and there’s no cure.” He continued, “my goal was can I get on the show, can I tell the world about it, god willing can I win and then can I invest some of that money into research and make sure Lucas is taken care of for life.”
Jeff’s appearance on Beast Games turned into a platform not just for competition, but for advocacy, awareness, and hope. When asked whether he would work with Mr Beast again, Jeff didn’t hesitate. “I would love to. I would love to support his philanthropic side.”
