Lewis & Maese Auctions Hosts the Fine Art & Antiques River Oaks Estate Auction of Jeanette and Jim Woods

Houston, TX, May 27, 2021  — Lewis & Maese Auctions will host The Woods’ Sprawling River Oaks Estate Auction at 1505 Sawyer St. Houston, TX 77007 on June 26, 2021, featuring incredible antique furnishings. The estate of the late Jim Woods, former C.E.O. of Baker Hughes. Mr. Woods joined Baker Hughes Oil and Tools in 1955. Baker Hughes is one of the world’s largest oil field services companies. He created Baker International and was the guiding force in the company merger of Baker Hughes in 1987 and C.E.O. from 1987 to 1997.  He was also the chairman of Memorial Herman hospital systems and the Y.M.C.A. of greater Houston area and many other boards. He earned many, many prestigious humanitarian awards. Jim & Jeanette Woods River Oaks estate at 3208 Chevy Chase drive was decorated by Canon & Wilde and furnished with painting from many galleries and antique shops from La Jolla, California to Royal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. The estate is being auctioned in its entirety. It consists of the finest sculptural art, oil paintings, French antiques, palatial hand-woven rugs, cut crystal, sterling silver pieces and porcelain to name a few.

 

 

Lewis & Maese Auction will be welcoming a live auction audience for the first time since before the pandemic. Guest will enjoy $2 pizza slices and an open bar while bidding alongside prestigious Houstonians alike. Live online bidding is also available on LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com. French and English 19th Century antiques, a Mason Hamlin baby grand piano, upholstered furniture in fabrics from the House of Scalamandre and Fortuny, sculpture by Richard MacDonald, artworks by Henri Charles Etienne Dujardin-Beaumetz, Edward H. Thompson, Lunzen, Pablo Picasso and many others. Garden furnishings, sculptures and a pair of 19th Century carved marble Sphinxes. Fine china dinnerware and silver pieces and flatware, crystal chandeliers and sconce lighting, 18th C. French marble top gilded console tables, complete Baccarat tantalus, 1880’s calamander wood console table, bronze sculptures, 1850’s turtle back center table with gilt bronze mounts, wonderful bronze baroque sconces, 18th C. Chippendale partners desk, Biedermeier burled chestnut furniture and much more.
