Vietnam’s Top MCNs Partner with TabiPay to Disrupt Cross-Border Tipping Industry for Creators

-- In a bold move to address growing frustrations among creators and fans alike, Vietnam’s leading multi-channel networks (MCNs), Yeah1 Network and Viral Works, have announced a strategic partnership with blockchain-based payment platform TabiPay. The collaboration aims to eliminate high commissions and long settlement delays plaguing international tipping in the influencer economy—a challenge that has alienated millions of overseas fans and stunted creator earnings.

TabiPay is an innovative payment platform that allows users to receive payments directly through their TikTok accounts, with an experience as simple as topping up mobile credit. It addresses major pain points for creators, including high commissions, currency depreciation, and costly cross-border fees, while enabling real-time settlement without intermediaries.

Positioned as the “Stripe for creators,” TabiPay is not just a tipping tool but a full-stack financial platform that encompasses income collection, wealth management, and spending. Fans can directly support creators, bypassing platform algorithm limitations and ensuring that talent is no longer constrained by borders or bank accounts. With TabiPay, creators can easily receive global tips, enjoy a 0% commission policy, and unlock greater income potential.

Payment Delays Up to 30 Days, Platform Commissions as High as 35%

Yeah1 Network’s International Business Director, Trần Minh Anh, revealed that when overseas users tip through traditional channels (such as credit cards or local e-wallets), funds must pass through multiple intermediary banks, resulting in settlement periods of 15–30 days. In addition, once platform commissions, payment gateway fees, and cross-border charges are stacked, the total rate can reach 25%–35%:

“For example, from a $100 tip sent by a U.S. fan, a KOL ultimately receives only $65—after waiting a month,” he explained.

In July 2025, TikTok Vietnam implemented a new 10% base fee policy (combining the original commission and service fee). However, for cross-border transactions, an additional 15%–25% international processing fee is still applied. Trần Minh Anh commented:

“On the one hand, the platform encourages creators to go global, but on the other, it restricts their earnings with high fees.”

The Conflict Between Global Fans and Localized Payments

More than 40% of the followers of Vietnam’s top KOLs now come from overseas. The team behind comedy blogger Ha Sam (1.5M followers) noted:

“30% of our tips come from fans in Europe, the U.S., Japan, and Korea, but many give up supporting us because the payment process is too complicated.”

The operator for dance blogger Le Bong (4M followers) added:

“Fans often say things like ‘I want to tip, but I can’t find the option’ or ‘the fees are higher than the tip itself.’”

According to the 2025 Southeast Asia E-commerce Influencer Marketing Report, 78% of Southeast Asian consumers are willing to pay for cross-border KOL content, but 53% abandon the attempt due to poor payment experiences. Vietnamese KOL agencies have tried integrating international payment tools such as PayPal and Stripe, yet still face challenges such as regional restrictions and losses from currency conversion.

Can Crypto Payments Break the Deadlock? Pilot Data Revealed

The collaboration with TabiPay is seen as a breakthrough attempt. Viral Works CTO Lê Đức revealed that during pilot runs, crypto tipping reduced settlement time to under 2 minutes, while lowering the total fee rate to below 5%. The main challenge, however, lies in user education:

“Only 12% of overseas users are familiar with crypto payments. We need to simplify the process, such as by generating one-click payment QR codes.”

In addition, Vietnam’s upcoming 2026 E-Commerce Law amendment will require all transactions to disclose both “identity and goods,” meaning the anonymity of crypto payments may face compliance adjustments.

MCNs Call on Platforms to Optimize Cross-Border Infrastructure

Yeah1 Network has proposed three initiatives:

Lower cross-border fees – keep tipping transaction charges below 15%.

Build localized payment channels – integrate with regional e-wallets such as Vietnam’s MoMo and Indonesia’s GoPay.

Launch a global settlement hub – support real-time multi-currency settlements.

Trần Minh Anh stressed:

“The future of the KOL ecosystem is undoubtedly global, but payment infrastructure must keep pace with the growth of the fan economy.”
