Jerome Dubrulle, a USCG-licensed captain and owner of Jacques on the D Fishing Charter, launched a new YouTube channel on September 1, 2026, documenting fishing on the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, and remote Michigan destinations. The channel debuts with two episodes, led by footage from his July 2026 packraft fishing trip to Isle Royale National Park, where he targeted northern pike and lake trout. New episodes will be published every two weeks and cover local charter trips, seasonal tactics, and gear breakdowns.

The Isle Royale episodes follow Dubrulle from the Isle Royale Queen IV ferry crossing to the island's interior lakes, where a packraft allowed him to reach water that most visitors never see. Upcoming episodes bring the focus back to southeast Michigan, with on-the-water footage from charter trips, walleye and smallmouth bass tactics, and an honest look at what works and what doesn't on any given day.

"Most people have no idea how good the fishing is right off the Detroit shoreline," Dubrulle said. "I started this channel to show what a day on the water here actually looks like, and to give people the information they need to get out there themselves."

Viewers can watch new episodes on Jerome Dubrulle's Detroit River and Lake St. Clair fishing channel and learn more about his charter trips. Trips depart from Stanton Yards Marina in Detroit and are open to beginners as well as experienced anglers. The channel is meant to serve both groups: newcomers get a realistic preview of what to expect on a charter, while experienced anglers get a look at how a licensed captain reads seasonal conditions on two of the busiest fisheries in the Great Lakes.

The launch comes as Michigan's recreational fishery continues to grow. According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, recreational fishing generates at least $3.9 billion in economic activity in the state and supports nearly 35,400 jobs, with roughly 1.1 million licensed anglers on the water each year. The Detroit River and Lake St. Clair sit at the center of that activity, drawing anglers for the spring walleye run, summer smallmouth bass, and fall muskie.

"The Detroit River walleye run alone brings people in from all over the Midwest," Dubrulle noted. "This channel is a way to share that with a wider audience year-round, not just during the few weeks when everyone is already talking about it." With two episodes live and a new release every two weeks, the channel plans to continue publishing through the fall and into the 2027 season, including winter preparation, ice safety, and early-spring walleye coverage.
