GPD Optoelectronics Announces Global Availability of Photodiodes on DigiKey

Engineers Gain Global Access to U.S.-Made InGaAs and Germanium Photodiodes for NIR/SWIR Applications

(PRUnderground) December 19th, 2025

GPD Optoelectronics, a U.S. manufacturer of high-performance InGaAs and Germanium photodiodes, announced today that that a selection of its most widely used detectors is now available globally on DigiKey, giving engineers immediate access to detectors optimized for 1310/1550 nm power monitoring, spectroscopy/FTIR, free-space optical beam alignment, and other NIR/SWIR applications.

“This partnership removes friction for our customers,” said David Beatson, CEO, GPD Optoelectronics. “DigiKey’s logistics and reach meet our strength in wafer-to-device manufacturing—from design and wafer processing in New Hampshire to application-specific packaging. Engineers can now move from concept to qualified detector with parts in stock and easy to buy.”

Technical Relevance for Optical System Designers
With GPD’s photodiodes now available in DigiKey’s inventory, engineering teams gain faster access to low-noise NIR/SWIR detectors across multiple package types, enabling quicker prototyping cycles, tighter optical alignment workflows, and more predictable sourcing for production builds.

What’s Available Now on DigiKey

  • Material coverage: InGaAs (≈850–1700 nm) for low-noise precision at 1310/1550 nm; Germanium (≈850–1650 nm) for cost-effective, large-area power monitoring
  • Packages & formats:TO-5 / TO-8, LCC-6 / LCC-28 (SMT), and BNC; options for larger active areas and application-specific windows/lenses.
  • Use cases: Telecom power monitoring, spectroscopy/FTIR, free-space optical alignment/positioning, and general NIR/SWIR instrumentation.
  • Support: U.S. engineering and manufacturing with customization paths—from design and wafer processing to packaging and optics.
