ModFx is making a Unique Connection between Technology & Blood Donations

Improving Blood Donations in India where almost 12,000 human lives are lost daily due to lack of quality blood requires a revolutionary approach. ModFx Labs, founded by IITB, Wharton & Berkley graduates is trying to address this problem with unique approach - a program of Incentization & the use of its Consent-Driven Location Technology.

(PRUnderground) February 26th, 2025

India has a huge gap in the blood supply. It requires approximately 30 million blood units yearly, whereas the supply via blood donations is able to cater to approximately 70% of it. The non availability of quality blood causes a loss of nearly 12,000 precious human lives daily.

ModFx Labs, a company founder by 5 graduates from IIT Bombay, Wharton & California Berkley is trying to solve this problem with a program of incentization & the use of its Location Technology. The company pays INR 1000 to each blood donor after validating his visit to a blood donation camp. The validation is performed using the company’s Location Technology Platform. Before validating the visit, ModFx Labs takes explicit SMS consent from each blood donor.

The founders have meticulously picked their roles. Mandeep Singh engages with Mobile App companies, Anant Pokharna manages the NGO partners, Saurabh Saxena marshals Government App associations, Kinshuk Jerath advises framing of blood donor incentive programs whereas Pulkit Grover deals with minimizing the resources consumed for anonymous Location Data processing

ModFx Labs works in partnership with multiple NGOs. The company extends it’s incentives across the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand & Madhya Pradesh. ModFx Labs intends to increase it’s blood donations by 200% in the next 1 year. We believe offering good incentives to blood donors is the best approach.

The NGO partners send the company a daily list of blood donors who claim to have donated blood at a certain blood donation camp. ModFx Labs Location Technology Platform validates their visit to relevant blood donation camps. Then, the company notifies the relevant NGO Partners with a list of blood donors who actually visited the blood donation camps using its Non-Personally Identifiable Location-Data based Technology Platform. Finally, the NGO partners pay INR 1,000 to each of the validated donors. The company’s use of data thoroughly respects User Privacy. The founders believe incentivization is the future of Blood Donations.

The company uses 2 types of data in its Technology Platform. The 1st type of data is the Advertising ID based mobile location data & the 2nd type is the mappings between MD5 encrypted Mobile Numbers & Advertising IDs. Both types of data are completely Non-Personally Identifiable & anonymous. On top of that, the Company secures text consent from the blood donors before using their location data. The company secures the mappings from Mobile App companies in India with support from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
