Laser Focus World is an industry bedrock—first published in 1965 and still going strong. We publish original articles about cutting-edge advances in lasers, optics, photonics, sensors, and quantum technologies, as well as test and measurement, and the shift currently underway to usher in the photonic integrated circuits, optical interconnects, and copackaged electronics and photonics to deliver the speed and efficiency essential for data centers of the future.

Our 80,000 qualified print subscribers—and 130,000 12-month engaged online audience—trust us to dive in and provide original journalism you won’t find elsewhere covering key emerging areas such as laser-driven inertial confinement fusion, lasers in space, integrated photonics, chipscale lasers, LiDAR, metasurfaces, high-energy laser weaponry, photonic crystals, and quantum computing/sensors/communications. CASCADIA POETICS LAB TO HOST 9TH CASCADIA POETRY FESTIVAL

What does it mean to be a part of a community? How do we continue to create art in an increasingly chaotic world? Explore these topics and celebrate the poetry of Cascadia at the 9th annual Cascadia Poetry Festival!

SEATTLE, WA, August 12, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- From October 10-12, 2025, Seattle-based poetry nonprofit Cascadia Poetics Lab will be hosting writing workshops, panel discussions and readings featuring prominent poets and academics from the Cascadia bioregion and beyond. Featured events and offerings will be hosted at the Rainier Beach Community Club, Kubota Garden and Redwing Café.

The Cascadia Poetry Festival is a gathering of poets and bioregionalists exploring poetry's connection to environmental, political, historical and sociological pursuits within the Cascadia bioregion. The festival aims to consider how prioritizing natural and cultural boundaries, rather than arbitrary political ones, can address climate change and other pressing social and political issues. Featured speakers include Brenda Cárdenas, Jim Dott, Brenda Hillman, Zach Charles, Roberto Harrison, Alicia Hokanson, Robert Lashley, Lorin Medley, Rhea Melina, Gabriella Gutiérrez y Muhs, Roxi Power, Robert Michael Pyle, Paul Nelson, Sharon Thesen, Matt Trease, Jason Wirth and Katie Sarah Zale. Featured workshops will explore the practices of ekphrasis, investigation, lyric and form, the connection between internal and external worlds and poetry in times of crisis. An afterparty will be hosted by Greg Bem of Carbonation Press and Cascadia 2050, Cascadia Poetics Lab's youth initiative, at Jude's in Rainier Beach.

Sponsors of the Festival include 4Culture, Creative West, National Endowment for the Arts, Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, ArtsFund, La Sala, Subud Greater Seattle and ArtsWA.
