Luminati v. Oxylabs Patent Lawsuit Concludes, Oxylabs to Appeal

On November 5th, 2021 the jury issued a verdict in a patent infringement lawsuit brought by Bright Data (formerly Luminati Networks Ltd.) against Oxylabs in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, ruling in favor of Bright Data.

MARSHALL, TX / ACCESSWIRE / November 10, 2021 / Oxylabs, a leading global provider of premium proxies and data scraping solutions, received an unfavorable ruling in a patent dispute. The jury issued a verdict that Oxylabs infringed at least one of the asserted claims across three patents held by Bright Data Ltd., which was previously known as Luminati Networks Ltd.

It's important to note that the jury's decision relates to a claim for monetary damages only. Therefore, Oxylabs can continue providing the accused services as per usual.

In 2018, Bright Data filed a case against Oxylabs, indicating that the latter had infringed upon the former's patents. When the first lawsuit ended by settlement, Bright Data initiated more lawsuits against Oxylabs.

Until today, there were two cases remaining, where Bright Data claimed infringement upon five patents by Oxylabs' products.

Julius Černiauskas, CEO of Oxylabs, comments: "It would be an understatement to say that we were disappointed with the decision. While we disagree with it and will appeal to the higher court, we thank the jury for their effort and time over the course of the case. Our company has always put forth the importance of ethics, positive restraint, and regulation. Oxylabs is still committed to these beliefs and we will continue our pursuit for justice."

Oxylabs intends to defend the company's position with the District Court and, if necessary, at the Court of Appeals. The company will request the reversal of the jury's decision and a finding that Bright Data's patents are not infringed and invalid.

Oxylabs will continue to defend its beliefs and other industry stakeholders from similar claims. The company will continue to strive towards ensuring a fair, competitive market that thrives on innovation and best business practices.
