SailPoint Ushers in New Era of Adaptive Identity With the SailPoint Platform

With a wave of new capabilities, SailPoint sets the direction for unifying identity, data and security with design partners CVS, Equinix, NVIDIA, VSP, and more

SailPoint, Inc. (Nasdaq: SAIL), a leader in enterprise identity security, kicked off its 2025 Navigate series by announcing its vision for the future of enterprise security. This vision is underpinned by the SailPoint Platform, which delivers identity-first, data-first security with AI intelligence guiding how enterprises govern access, detect risks and respond to evolving threats. As part of its series of announcements, the company also released new innovations including Agent Identity Security and Observability & Insights, plus significant updates to both Data Access Security and Atlas.

A new era of adaptive identity

The walls that once defined the enterprise—networks, perimeters, departments—no longer provide adequate protection. Identities span humans, machines, AI agents, all of which are accessing applications and data. Altogether, this has created a vast new attack surface. Adversaries have adapted, authenticating through legitimate identities rather than breaching traditional defenses.

With the rapid rise of AI and autonomous agents, organizations face an explosion of non-human identities—potentially tens of billions—at a scale and complexity beyond what most organizations can even see, let alone govern and secure. Without unified visibility and control, the disconnect between identity context and security context widens, leaving businesses exposed at the very moment they are accelerating into the AI era.

“This new reality requires an adaptive identity model—a modern approach that unifies identity, data, and security to deliver continuous, contextual protection,” said Chandra Gnanasambandam, EVP of Product and CTO, SailPoint. “Unlike static, siloed tools built for yesterday’s environment, the SailPoint Platform sets a new standard, delivering identity security that is unified, intelligent, and adaptive by design. Our approach meets a world where perimeters have disappeared, data is scattered, and threats are intelligent, evolving and unrelenting.”

Breakthrough innovations

To prepare customers for the realities of a dynamic threat landscape, SailPoint is introducing a wave of new innovations and enhancements—all unified as part of the SailPoint Platform.

The technology foundation of intelligent identity security: Atlas

At the core of the SailPoint Platform is Atlas, now enhanced with new capabilities called Atlas Enterprise. These capabilities include Dynamic Security Orchestration and a Shared Signals Framework that allow enterprises to customize governance programs, ingest real-time threat signals, and take immediate action based on risk level. Atlas Workflows adds Adaptive Approvals—custom, intelligent approval paths that adapt dynamically based on risk and business context. This gives enterprises flexible, context-aware governance that maintains security without slowing productivity.

Building on Atlas, SailPoint also introduced the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server that brings identity security capabilities to AI-native environments, empowering agentic applications with trusted, enterprise-grade identity services. With MCP Server, enterprises can harness the power of AI without compromising trust, compliance, or control.

“The Adaptive Approvals capability we use through SailPoint’s Identity Security Cloud is refreshingly intuitive and user friendly,” said Savannah Grunden, Sr. Information Security Engineer, VSP Vision. “SailPoint clearly thought through the use cases, striking the right balance between intelligent automation and practicality.”

Breadth of identities: Expanding to AI agents

As anticipated, the company announced the general availability of SailPoint Agent Identity Security (AIS), one of the first solutions purpose-built to secure AI agents down to the entitlement level. Unlike humans or machines, these entities can make millions of autonomous decisions in minutes and even generate new sub-agents, creating a unique security challenge that most organizations are unprepared to address.

Agent Identity Security enables enterprises to discover, govern, and secure every agent across the enterprise. It also allows organizations to formally certify AI agents—assigning clear owner and user accountability, enforcing proper permissions, and linking agents directly to the identity context of the users they represent and the data they access. By tying agent activity to data at a granular level—down to files, rows, and columns—SailPoint uniquely delivers the visibility and control needed to bring trust, compliance, and security to the era of autonomous AI.

Depth of context: SailPoint Observability & Insights and Data Access Security

With interactive, graph-based intelligence that maps identity relationships and access paths, SailPoint Observability & Insights (O&I) makes it easy to visualize humans and non-humans and all their related access, or to view an entitlement and everyone who has access to it. This depth of context enables organizations to adopt least-privilege policies, quickly remediate inconsistencies and outdated permissions, and proactively reduce risk. Fully integrated with the SailPoint Platform and external systems, Observability & Insights goes beyond surfacing issues—it equips identity and security teams to act with precision, strengthening identity hygiene, minimizing exposure, and improving overall security posture.

SailPoint Data Access Security (DAS) complements this by focusing on the data layer itself. It provides visibility into who has access to what data, how that access is being used, and whether it aligns with policy. Critically, Data Access Security enables Data Certification for both users and agents—something no other platform can deliver, as only SailPoint has the identity context to make this possible. Newly added is an integration with Snowflake that extends SailPoint Data Access Security to structured data. Through this integration, customers gain centralized identity context and comprehensive visibility into human, machine and AI agent access to data. This enhances interoperability with SailPoint Agent Identity Security and Machine Identity Security offerings, combining identity governance with data security. The result is reduced risk of sensitive data leaking through LLMs, agents, or unauthorized applications, establishing a strong governance foundation for the continued adoption of workplace AI.

Together, Observability & Insights and Data Access Security deliver the depth of context enterprises need to eliminate blind spots, unify identity and data security—across both human and non-human identities—and stay ahead of potential risk across the enterprise.

A look into what’s coming: Privilege and real-time defense

Looking ahead, SailPoint previewed the next phase of its roadmap, extending the reach of identity security into three critical areas:

  • Privilege Security Posture Management aims to help organizations achieve least privilege with automated privilege classification and discovery at the entitlement level. It will support multiple Just-in-Time access models, check-in/check-out of privileges, and conditional access, ensuring privileges are only granted when needed, reducing standing access risk.
  • Real-time Authorization is expected to automatically evaluate each access request, using dynamic, contextual signals, integrating with existing SOC tools to grant or revoke privilege in real time as conditions change.
  • Real-time Threat Defense and Remediation is designed to detect and contain identity-related threats with identity-driven context.

Together, these upcoming capabilities bring identity and security domains closer than ever, breaking down silos and enabling a more proactive defense posture across teams.

About SailPoint

At SailPoint, we believe enterprise security must start with identity at the foundation. Today’s enterprise runs on a diverse workforce of not just human but also digital identities—and securing them all is critical. Through the lens of identity, SailPoint empowers organizations to seamlessly manage and secure access to applications and data at speed and scale. Our unified, intelligent, and extensible platform delivers identity-first security, helping enterprises defend against dynamic threats while driving productivity and transformation. Trusted by many of the world’s most complex organizations, SailPoint secures the modern enterprise.

With the rapid rise of AI and autonomous agents, organizations face an explosion of non-human identities—potentially tens of billions—at a scale and complexity beyond what most organizations can even see, let alone govern and secure.
