Charles A. Lamberton has been accepted as a member of The Wendell G. Freeland Society

The Pittsburgh employment attorneys at the Lamberton Law Firm are pleased to announce that Charles A. Lamberton has been accepted as a member of The Wendell G. Freeland Society.

The Freeland Society is a litigation honor society comprised of judges, lawyers, and law students dedicated to advancing litigation excellence. The Freeland Society is a 501(c)(6) organization named after a storied local litigator, civil rights advocate, and military hero Wendell G. Freeland. The Freeland Society emphasizes creating significant educational and mentoring experiences for its members, designed to enhance and develop their legal skills and contribute positively to their growth as effective and ethical litigators. Membership in the Freeland Society is capped at 200 individuals.

“The Freeland Society embodies the values that I live by – professional excellence, empathy, a concern for the well-being of others and bringing people closer together,” Lamberton said. “It’s an honor to be accepted as a member.”

Part of the Freeland Society’s mission is promoting equity and inclusion. Lamberton says this was a significant reason why he applied for membership.
“Equity and inclusion are the causes of my life. As a law student in 1995, I wrote a paper arguing that spousal testimonial privileges should be extended to same-sex couples. Then a few years later, as a young lawyer, I tried a federal civil rights case in Judge Ziegler’s courtroom to a successful jury verdict. The case involved a Pittsburgh Housing Authority police officer who dared to intervene when he saw several City police officers beating an unarmed African-American female as she lay face down on the ground. The Housing Authority fired my client a few weeks after he reported this misconduct to the Office of Municipal Investigations. The jury found our favor on the First Amendment retaliation claim and restored my client’s reputation. That case set my career as a civil rights lawyer.”

Lamberton Law Firm is an employment law firm based in Pittsburgh, PA, and represents employees with harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims. Charles A. Lamberton is an employment lawyer who serves employees across all of Western Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh, Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Cranberry Township, Moon Township, Upper St. Clair, Mt. Lebanon, Peters Township, Edgeworth, Swissvale, Fox Chapel, Wexford, Sewickley, and Point Breeze.

Lamberton says he looks forward to working with the Freeland Society for many years.
