Castle Kyalami was alive with purpose as over 500 guests from across South Africa gathered to commemorate World Humanitarian Day. The event featured a Scientology Volunteer Ministers graduation, an acknowledgment ceremony, and a screening of the documentary *Operation: Do Something About It*. Attendees represented various sectors, including government, religion, education, and the private sector, reflecting the broad appeal of humanitarian efforts in the country.

The day began with a screening of *Operation: Do Something About It*, a powerful documentary showcasing the vital work of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers. The film highlighted efforts such as disaster relief during the KwaZulu-Natal floods and delivering thousands of "Tools for Life" courses, created by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, that empower citizens with practical skills for everyday challenges. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause, inspired by stories of communities transformed through the work of these dedicated volunteers.

“I was deeply touched by what I saw,” stated Ms. Freda Mapela, Speaker of the Council for the Moretele Municipality in the North West Province, and a VIP guest at the event. “The dedication of these Volunteer Ministers is nothing short of extraordinary, and their impact reaches far and wide.”

The ceremony continued with the graduation of newly appointed leaders into the ranks of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, who have completed rigorous training to spearhead local projects that promote self-reliance and community resilience through the "Tools for Life" program. “Being a Volunteer Minister is more than a role; it’s a commitment to help others,” said one graduate. “We are not just given skills; we are given a mission to uplift our communities and change lives.”

Testimonials from beneficiaries underscored the real, lasting change being made every day. Mr. Thabo Nkosi, an honoree, shared, “I’ve seen firsthand the difference these tools can make. In my community, we’ve reduced crime rates and increased employment by teaching practical life skills. The impact has been life-changing, and I’m proud to be part of it.”

Castle Kyalami has long been a center for the Church of Scientology’s humanitarian mission in South Africa. The Castle has hosted international conferences, workshops, and training sessions, becoming a hub for promoting peace, unity, and development. The Scientology Volunteer Ministers have led disaster response efforts, community upliftment projects, and social reform initiatives, providing emergency support during the COVID-19 pandemic and organizing food drives for underserved communities.

World Humanitarian Day at Castle Kyalami was a powerful reminder of the importance of volunteerism and humanitarian action. It reaffirmed the Church of Scientology’s commitment to uplifting communities and serving those in need, with the Volunteer Ministers at the heart of this mission.
