ESPEC and Andritz Bitrode Bring Advanced Battery Charge-Discharge Testing to Life at The Battery Show North America 2025

By: PRLog
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - Oct. 6, 2025 - PRLog -- ESPEC North America, the global leader in environmental testing chambers, today announced a live demonstration of its next-generation Advanced Battery Chamber (ADBC), developed in collaboration with Andritz Bitrode, a renowned manufacturer of battery charge-discharge test equipment, at The Battery Show North America 2025. The event takes place October 6–9, 2025, at Huntington Place in Detroit, MI, with ESPEC located at booth 4211.

As the electric vehicle and lithium-ion battery industries accelerate innovation, demand for precise, repeatable, and safe battery testing grows unabated. The ADBC sets a new benchmark by combining ESPEC's multi-area temperature control technology with the ability to integrate industry-leading charge-discharge test systems, such as those from Andritz Bitrode. This flexibility empowers engineers with unmatched performance, safety, and adaptability across diverse testing requirements.

"Battery researchers and manufacturers are facing unprecedented challenges in balancing safety, performance, and reliability," said Luke Polega, President of ESPEC North America. "Our partnership with Andritz Bitrode ensures advanced testing capabilities are accessible in one robust platform, combining ESPEC's innovation in multi-area temperature control with Andritz Bitrode's charge-discharge know-how. Attendees at The Battery Show will see firsthand how the ADBC can accelerate time-to-market for the next generation of lithium-ion solutions. Importantly, the chamber is designed with flexibility in mind. For Battery customers, lab space usually comes at a premium, thus the importance of a fully integrated solution for climate control and charge/discharge system in a smaller footprint than separate systems"

Pierre-Jean Arvers, CEO of Andritz Bitrode, added: "This collaboration with ESPEC is a natural alignment of two industry leaders. Integrating Andritz Bitrode's precise charge/discharge test systems within the ADBC empowers our customers to push the envelope of battery performance and safety, all within a controlled and secure environment."

Technical Breakthroughs:

The ADBC's multi-area temperature control chamber technology enables superior temperature uniformity (approx. ±1.5 °C standard, and up to ±0.5 °C in future models), essential for reproducibility and high-throughput cycling. The chamber supports a wide temperature range (–40 °C to +100 °C) and can simulate extreme operating conditions for comprehensive charge-discharge evaluation. Built-in safety features, including optional specimen temperature control, integrated smoke and heat detectors, CO₂ fire suppression, and high-efficiency ventilation-provide peace of mind for R&D labs and production environments alike.

The Battery test system from Andritz Bitrode is based on the Digital Cycler (BTDCTM) and features 300A in charge and discharge with high accuracy of 0.02% and industry leading rise time below 1ms.

Key Features:
  • Multi‑area temperature control for superior battery test uniformity
  • Supports Andritz Bitrode for seamless workflow
  • Wide operating range (–40 °C to +100 °C)
  • Optional advanced safety systems: specimen temp control, detectors, fire suppression
  • Flexible for both standard lithium-ion testing protocols and custom requirements
