REGINA, SK – July 14, 2025 – TheNewswire - This summer, for the fifth time, the IEAGHG International CCS Summer School will take place in Regina. Summer school is a globally recognized program dedicated to advancing carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) expertise among the next generation of climate leaders.

Over the past 15 years IEAGHG’s Summer School has propelled the careers of over 750 students from 64 countries. This year, from July 13–19, the International CCS Knowledge Centre will welcome 50 students from 32 countries for an intensive week of learning, collaboration, and hands-on experiences. Selected from a global pool of 213 applicants across 44 countries, this year’s cohort reflects the growing global momentum behind climate solutions like CCUS. Students are early-career professionals seeking a deeper understanding of CCUS and have backgrounds in engineering, geo-technologies or socio-economics.

Summer School is the only CCUS education initiative of its kind, with hundreds of students applying to participate every year.  Students have travelled from around the world to hear from the vast pool of local CCS experts and tour SaskPower’s Boundary Dam CCS Facility and the Aquistore CO2 storage site. In addition to the tour, students hear from world-leading scientists and experts on every facet of the CCUS value chain.

Presenters from IEAGHG, the International CCS Knowledge Centre, the University of Adelaide, Shell, TotalEnergies, Natural Resources Canada, Deep Sky, PTRC, SaskPower, Whitecap and more will share their knowledge and expertise. Presentations will cover the capture, transportation and storage of CO2, industrial uses of CO2, the costs and economics of CCS, the regulations and policies supporting CCS, GHG accounting, public communication, health and safety, and more.
