“Honest View” – the First International Media Award Gathered 28 Countries in Moscow

The media award was created for journalists of foreign media, bloggers and photojournalists. The contest was held for the first time this year and united outstanding media market professionals from different countries. The subjects of the contest works are very diverse: high-tech production, territorial development, social and humanitarian issues, promising industries and international cultural partnership with Russia.

The jury consisted of:

 Russian journalist and broadcaster, member of the Academy of Russian Television, director of the First Media Academy Institute Russian journalist and TV presenter, member of the Russian Television Academy, Director of the First Media Academy Institute of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Director of the Media Institute of the Higher School of Economics, member of the Expert Council of the Presidential Cultural Initiatives Fund Ernest Matskevicius;

Director of the International Cooperation Directorate of the Rossiya Segodnya news agency, Director of the Media Council of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Peace, Friendship and Development Vasily Pushkov;

Editor-in-chief of Russia-24 TV channel, Evgeny Bekasov;

Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Affairs, Chairman of the Presidium of the Russian Council on Foreign and Defense Policy Fyodor Lukyanov;

Hero of Russia, the world’s first scientist – commander of a spaceship, author of “Amazing Earth” Sergey Ryazansky;

Candidate of Philological Sciences, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University for international cooperation Anna Gladkova.

The jury was chaired by Vladimir Yevstafyev, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations of the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, Vice-President of the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia, Academician of the Russian Advertising Academy.

Deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo Dmitry Polikanov:

“Today it is very important to show that different voices are heard in the international media, opinions are expressed aimed at sincere interest in Russia, its values, cultural, economic, political events taking place in the country. The first entries showed how right the decision to create the prize was. Large-scale projects appear in the international media space, objectively revealing these or those events in Russia, demonstrating the true state of affairs and events”.

The geography of the project: 118 applications from 28 countries, including Abkhazia, Seychelles, Argentina, Nepal, Kenya, Lebanon, Turkey, France, Montenegro, Ireland. The largest number of applications was received from the Republic of Kazakhstan – 17 materials, from Kyrgyzstan – 15 applications, and from the Republic of Belarus – 11 applications. The most popular were the nominations “International Cultural Partnership with Russia” – 69 applications were received and “Social/Humanitarian Issues” with 27 applications. The short list of the award included 32 participants from 15 countries.
