After some 90-degree days, we're in for some storms this weekend.



Severe storms a possibility Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Good evening everyone. I'm meteorologist Mike Mays in the WRL Severe Weather Center with our forecast update for this Thursday night. One more day and we got the weekend, and it looks like we will see showers and thunderstorms Friday, Saturday, Sunday, perhaps Monday of next week as well. It's an active weather period. We have two WRL weather alert days now for Saturday and Sunday, contemplating issuing one. On Friday, there's a level 1 threat for severe weather from the triangle area west. At some point we may issue one for the day on Friday. Also a level 1 threat on Saturday. Boat days feature damaging wind gusts, maybe some small hail. We're issuing a weather alert day for Sunday because there are so many outdoor activities. There's going to be a lot of rain around likely to interfere with your plans. We just want you to be aware of that. Uh, good chance of rain, the best chance of rain, and most widespread rain looks like it will come on Saturday. So our forecast can rule out some showers overnight, especially toward daybreak. Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s, and then tomorrow, some afternoon thunderstorms. There's a possibility that they could be strong to severe and last even into tomorrow evening and tomorrow night. That's our forecast update. Have a great night.
