Continued development results in new features for Linux desktops, high-performance computing environments, support for Azure NCv6
Leostream Corporation today announced updates to the Microsoft Marketplace edition of the world-leading Leostream® Remote Desktop Access Platform that add even more features for customers using GPU-accelerated virtual machines in Azure environments, support for the upcoming Azure NCv6, new options for Linux desktop deployments, and improved Azure integration.
Azure NCv6 is Microsoft’s latest GPU-based virtual machine platform, a cloud infrastructure based on NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture and built for production AI, visual effects rendering, high-fidelity simulations, and other high-performance workloads. With the Leostream Platform, NCv6 supports next-generation virtual desktops and workstations with fractional GPU options and enterprise-grade security.
Following the successful deployment of Leostream’s initial offering in the Microsoft Marketplace, Microsoft requested further development work to extend its capabilities and support. The Leostream Platform offering in the Microsoft Marketplace now includes the ability to launch and deploy a Linux desktop, eliminating manual configuration steps required for Linux environments in the previous version in the Microsoft Marketplace.
The Leostream Platform delivered by the Microsoft Marketplace offering now automatically creates an Azure center for the region where the platform was deployed, allowing the platform to inventory and control virtual desktops/workstations in its Azure Center to improve power state management of the deployed virtual machines. The updated integration also offers improved support for using Azure Managed Identities.
“We are thrilled that Azure customers around the world have realized the value of using the Leostream Platform with Azure to connect users to remote resources, and deliver the performance and user experience they need, for running HPC workloads in the cloud,” said Randy Foster, Leostream VP of Sales and Alliances. “We encourage all Azure users to see how this update helps manage cloud compute costs with features for controlling capacity utilization and power states, and makes running and administering the virtual desktop and workstation environment even easier.”
Third-party products available through Microsoft Azure are validated for compatibility with Microsoft applications for virtually any cloud scenario. A popular benefit of the marketplace is that eligible purchases are applied toward the customer’s Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC), which can help maximize investments while balancing costs. The Leostream Remote Desktop Access Platform for hosted desktops and workstations offers a comprehensive solution for remote access to maintain productivity, control costs, and ensure security with strict authentication and authorization built on zero-trust concepts. Its connection management system eliminates clunky corporate VPNs with an ultra-efficient gateway that gives users access to only the specific resources they have permission to use, automatically, regardless of their location or device. The Leostream Platform shines even in environments that rely on complex, specialty applications like energy and science; large files such as media and entertainment; real-time performance like financial services; and bulletproof network security like government and defense.
