Fall weather is back: Cold front brings us sweater weather in the mornings

Hello, everyone. I'm meteorologist Mike Mays in the WRL Severe Weather Center with our forecast update for this Wednesday night. You probably felt the difference in the air today. We had a drier air mass move in from the north, and that will lead to a cooler start for your Thursday morning. We're gonna feel the chill as we start the day, 48 in Roxboro, 51 in Durham, 53 in Raleigh, 52 at Rocky Mount, 53 Goldsboro, 55, and Fayetteville. So, you'll probably need your jackets in the morning, longer pants as you head out. You'll definitely feel the chill because the air will be so much drier. So, as we start the day, it should end up being mostly clear to partly cloudy at the start of the day around 6 a.m. but becoming partly cloudy 8 to 10 a.m., 61 by the time we get to 10, and then we believe it'll become mostly cloudy to maybe at times overcast during the afternoon. It'll be breezy, it'll be less humid than what we had today. So it'll make that 72 feel a little on the cool side, so you may want to keep a jacket handy, especially if you're going to be in the shade. I think that's when you're really gonna definitely notice the change. So we have some cool mornings ahead. Our normal low is 57. We expect 53 in the morning. 52 Friday morning, I think more of us will be in the 40s to start the day, especially those cooler rural locations. 55 Saturday morning, 59 on Sunday. So if you're heading to the UNC game against Clemson on Saturday, tailgating in the morning will be a little bit on the cool side since kickoffs at noon. You'll probably need the jackets to start the day. Later in the afternoon, it'll warm up into the upper 70s, Sunday 5962 come Monday. So this is what we expect for the day tomorrow, statewide. Let's take a look. Mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon. 72 in Raleigh, 74, Fayetteville, 60s and 70s off to the west, Down east of the coast, still some gusty winds due to Imelda and also interaction between that and high pressure to the north. Friday, we'll see again, mostly cloudy skies. Highs in the mid to upper 70s, 66 at Boone, 78 at Wilmington, 72 at Nags Head. Now if you're going to area high school football games on Friday, it'll be a little cool on the bleachers compared to what we had last week when it was very humid and mild on the bleachers with temperatures in the 70s. These are Raleigh numbers, so if you live in a cooler rural location. You'll probably be in the 50s by the end of the game, so you'll definitely want to keep a jack in handy. So our forecast into the overnight, it's mostly clear, 48 at Roxboro, 49 at Clarksville, 50 at Lewisburg, 49 at Solar City, 52 at Goldsboro. Our southern counties upper 40s to mid-50s, 53 at 152 at midfield. Beautiful day, at least feeling wise for the day tomorrow, but it will be cooler than today, which was 76 out at RDU, 78 in Fayetteville. Our highs will be in the low to mid 70s. It'll be mostly cloudy. 72 in Raleigh, 73 in Goldsboro. That's our forecast update for this Wednesday night. Have a great night.
